Notes
1 Part 2 opens with a 4-minute recap of the events of Part 1. The recap features of a voice-over from Tom Selleck ("Last week on Part 1 of... Echoes of the Mind").

2 Similar to Season Three's "Did You See the Sunrise?", this episode features one of the most dramatic and shocking endings of the entire series!

3 Ian Freebairn-Smith, the series' original music composer who was replaced by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter early in season one, is referred to in this episode. Higgins mentions to Agatha about a soldier he once knew, Lt. Freebairn-Smith, who was eaten by a tiger!

4 Higgins' half-brother Father Paddy McGuiness makes his second and final appearance on the show. He was previously featured in Season Three's "Faith and Begorrah" (3.23). Higgins, pretending to be Father Paddy, even says "Faith and Begorrah" in this episode. This is the only time that one of Higgins' estranged relations appears in more than one episode.

5 Father Paddy McGuinness mentions three of Higgins' half-sisters: Soo Ling (already mentioned in the series), Elizabeth Whitefeather and Kutama-Numba! Elizabeth Whitefeather is presumably half Native-American and Kutama-Numba is half-African.

6 T.C. is seen wearing a gray "Grambling State Univ." t-shirt, with the number "58" on it. Grambling State is T.C.'s alma mater. (Noted by Birdman of Budapest)

7 Magnum is seen, once again, eating Fig Newtons dipped in milk. (Noted by Birdman of Budapest)

8 According to David Billingsworth, Higgins' father was a "General".

9 Higgins and Agatha have been friends since they first met in 1975. Agatha's house was filmed at a location in the Nuuanu Valley (close to Oahu Country Club) in the same general area as the Marks Estate (the second setting for the King Kamehameha Club) and Jennifer Chapman's house in "Tropical Madness" (2.7). The house is located at 2913 Pali Hwy. Agatha's house will be seen again in Season Six's "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" (6.14). (Noted by rubber chicken)

10 Rick's new girlfriend, Sara, the English flight attendant, looks exactly like the woman he fell for in Season Four's "The Case of the Red-Faced Thespian" (Lady Cynthia Warrington-Stout). This is because they are both played by the same actress, British babe June Chadwick!

11 Kengi, the Robin's Nest workman, is briefly seen on the lawn of the estate. He's also seen in "No Need to Know" (1.5), "Computer Date" (2.14), "Blind Justice" (5.7), "Little Games" (5.12), "Professor Jonathan Higgins" (5.13), "All For One (2)" (5.16), & "Ms. Jones" (5.19).

12 In exchange for a favor, Magnum gives Rick his two Lionel Richie "best seats in the house" concert tickets.
Quotes
1
(to Father Paddy)
Lady Ashley: Tres amusant, Jonathan.

2
(to Diedre)
Magnum: Did you join me in the shower and sleep with me?

3
Diane (points gun at Magnum): Sorry darling. You really are wonderful, but survival... is survival.
Magnum: Don't let her kill me Diane.
Diane: Run Thomas, run!
Magnum: I can't Diane....Diane, Diedre's dead.
(Diane shoots the lamp next to Magnum)
Diane: How's that for dead!?
Magnum: She's dead. You don't need her to survive.
Diane: Liar!!
Magnum: Isn't that what the doctor's told you? You don't need Diedre to survive.
Diane: She can't live without me! I'm the strong one! I've always been the strong one!
Magnum: No...Diane's the strong one. She's the one who lived.
Diane: No! (Fires another shot)
Magnum: Diedre's dead Diane. You can live without her.
Diane: No, I can't. I can't control her. She'll come back, maybe not for years, but she'll come back and when she does, she'll kill you!
Magnum: No, you can get her out of your life forever. We can do it together. I love you.
Diane: I love you.
(Diane cocks gun and points it at her head)
Magnum: Nooooo!!!
(Diane kills herself)
Flubs
1 David Billingsworth states that "there are no girls in the Higgins family", to which Fr. Paddy replies by naming off several illegitimate half sisters. However, in "Lest We Forget" (1.10), Higgins claims to have a full-blooded sister (unnamed) living in Sussex, England with four children.

2 When Lady Ashley and her Solicitor are sitting at the dinner table waiting for Higgins, Father Patty shows up and fishes for an old cigarette in the ash tray. As he searches for a cigarette, you can see there are 3 cigarettes in the ash tray, all with a colored filter. He picks up one of the 3 cigarettes with the colored filter, however, after he lights the cigarette, the camera cuts to a close up of Father Patty and you can clearly see that the cigarette is not the same one he picked up just seconds before, as this cigarette has a white filter.
