Episode Brief
Magnum finds himself locked into a mystery when a bank teller accidentally traps the two of them in a time-release vault at Robin Master's bank. Notes
1 The original script for this episode was entitled "For Love or Money".

2 Susan Johnson (Carol Burnett) will return again in Season Eight's "A Girl Named Sue" (8.7).

3 Carol Burnett has maintained a home in Hawaii (Maui) since the early 1980s. Tom Selleck was once quoted as saying that Carol Burnett was "one of the sexiest women" he has ever met.

4 The guesthouse party scene features an uncredited Jillie Mack (as Sherry). Jillie Mack is Tom Selleck's wife of 20+ years. Jillie Mack will later have a major guest starring role in Season Five's "Professor Jonathan Higgins" (5.13).

5 Sea Life Park and the legendary Hawaiian singer/entertainer Don Ho are mentioned. Surprisingly, this is the only time Don Ho is mentioned on the show, and he never made a guest star appearance.

6 The establishing shot for the "First Anglo Hawaiian Bank" was filmed at the historic Mission Memorial Building (558 South King Street). It was built in 1915 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. (Noted by rubber chicken)

7 We meet T.C.'s girlfriend Gloria (Deborah Pratt) for the first time. When this episode was filmed, Deborah Pratt was the wife of Magnum P.I. co-creator/exec producer/writer Donald P. Bellisario. Gloria will appear again in "Echoes of the Mind" (5.1) and "Tran Quoc Jones" (5.9).

8 Actor John McMartin (Bill Campbell) was previously involved in another "Hawaiian plot" regarding counterfeit money; in the 1971 Hawaii Five-O episode "F.O.B. Honolulu", he played a dishonest Naval officer involved in a plot to obtain counterfeit printing plates. McMartin will make another guest appearance on Magnum P.I. in Season Seven's "Novel Connection". (Noted by Tim)

9 Higgins' meditation book The Crystal Lotus: Infinite Consciousness, which is seen and quoted from, is a made-up book.

10 More Magnum on the sax can be seen at the end of the episode. Magnum plays a few bars from "Strangers in the Night", a song made famous by Frank Sinatra. (Noted by Mike Barnes)
Quotes
1
Higgins: You can't have a weekend of meditation without the inspirational readings.
Agatha: I don't know Jonathan, perhaps we should try something different this year and share our own inspirational thoughts, instead of listening to someone elses. Who knows what might come out of an atmosphere of intimacy.
Higgins: The safety deposit box.
Agatha: I beg your pardon!?
Flubs
1 At the beginning of the episode when Magnum meets Susan at the guesthouse, Magnum is seen wearing the old Chronosport Dive Watch, not the Rolex GMT Master (with Pepsi bezel) watch that we were introduced to in "Home From the Sea" (4.1). The correct Rolex watch is used in all other scenes in this episode. (Noted by Matt J)

2 Susan's radio would not be able to pick up a signal inside the bank vault. (Noted by Jay-Firestorm)
