This may be a pilot only project! Course.........their target market audience wasn't even born when the MPI we know and love was made. So again.......it's a "wait and see" situation.
Good one RG!

Combing through the pages for more info on this reboot. Jay Hernandez is 5'9". Um, that's a good half foot shorter than Selleck!! Also means I'm now taller than Magnum at 6 ft

Last week the pug meet-up group got together again at Pahonu, and since they heard Hernandez was going to be the new Magnum they invited him to the party...

Hilarious, marlboro! Just today I was wondering if maybe they still have Waldo's wardrobe around somewhere for Hernandez?

Now I know what happened. They said to him, "Congratulations, you're the new Magnum P.I.! That's what I would be saying to you if you weren't half a foot too short. Next!"
He came back the next day dressed like this:
...and for some reason it worked.

Oh, that is funny. I'm willing to watch the new pilot, if nothing else to be reminded how Selleck and the original show are beyond comparison, but I'm dreading the moment that new, 5'9" Magnum verbally spars with new, female Higgins, and responds with Oprah-grade platitudes to downplay masculinity. The 1980's weren't perfect, but in some ways it really was better.Rembrandt's Girl wrote:Oh, I've got more, 308GUY. Of course you remember how they had to modify the 308 for Selleck? I realized last night that instead of Tiny Tim as TM, Chris Pine would've been a great choice. He's Robert Pine's son (TM's dad in "Home From the Sea"), he's 37, 6'-0" tall, and can apparently grow a mustache, unlike Lenkov's boy wonder.
The connection with the original show would've been a neat tie-in. Oh well.
