Is this guy selling the original Magnum P.I.'s Ferrari 308?
We know that several '308' cars were used on the show.
According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_308_GTB/GTS), the first was a 1979 model with VIN 28251.
Well, this guy is selling a Ferrari gts 308 with that chassis number!

Maybe the same Ferrari used in the show or just a mistake? I don't think so but... who knows?
However linking to this French site (http://ferrari308qv.free.fr/) you can find other chassis numbers of cars driven by Tom Selleck on the show. Click the links 'Historique' and then 'Vu a la TV'.

I know what you're thinking, but this time you're wrong.

I'm thinking it wasn't used in the show because of the year 1979....Kalai-pahoa wrote:We know that several '308' cars were used on the show.

Either Wikipedia has their facts incorrect OR we do. I'm thinking Wiki is wrong. I'll see if I can find some more info later.
I'll look into the French site tomorrow.
Interesting that you are finding other chassis numbers driven by T.S.
Re: Is this guy selling the original Magnum P.I.'s Ferrari 3
I'm inclined to agree with KENJI. The year is wrong, and the car pictured in the first link has a black interior, which as far as I can recall, none of Mr Masters 308's did.
I suppose it's possible to have changed an interior, but it's highly doubtful in my mind. Also has wrong wheels, and I don't recall any of the cars in the show having the prancing horse shield on the front fenders.
Anything's possible these days, but I find the claim that this car was a car used in the show very dubious.

I just found a mix up on our site regarding the years.....
The Ferrari Section/Articles of our home page has them as 1978, 1980 and 1984 http://magnum-mania.com/Articles/The_Ferrari.html , but in the Trivia Section (#22)
http://magnum-mania.com/Trivia/Trivia.html we have them as 1979, 1981, 1984.

Yes. Cool to see. Interesting that they list "helicopter" under PICTURE CARS.
So what were call sheets used for? Is this for a particular episode? I confess my non-existent understanding of television production.

Hi Styles,
A call sheet is just an assignment sheet used for the days production. This sheet is from Luther Gillis: File #521..the day Luther KO's Gladys. You can see the things needed for the filming.
From Wiki..
The daily call sheet is a filmmaking term for a sheet of paper created by an assistant director that is issued to the cast and crew of a film production to inform them of where and when they should report for a particular day of filming.[1][2]
The production schedule is listed by call time, the time when people are expected to start work on a film set.
Call sheets include other useful information such as contact information (e.g. phone numbers of crew members and other contacts), the schedule for the day, which scenes and script pages are being shot, and the address of the shoot location. Call sheets have information about cast transportation arrangements, parking instructions and safety notes.
Call sheets may also provide logistical information regarding the location. It is common to find such items as weather information, sunrise/sunset times, local hospitals, restaurants, and hardware stores on call sheets.

Re: Is this guy selling the original Magnum P.I.'s Ferrari 3
I found it interesting that they needed two Ferrari's for that shoot. I wonder if one was for towing around on that trailer and the other for actual driving scenes where T.M. needed to get out of the car. It would be interesting if we could spot any subtle differences between the two cars during that episode (or any episode). I'm guessing not, but you never know. Thanks again Sam!

Re: Is this guy selling the original Magnum P.I.'s Ferrari 3
Thanks very much Sam! That's helpful - and makes the call sheet interesting to read!
So I assume 78 and 80 are some sort of internal designation the crew had for the cars (rather than referring to the years). Why would Luther's cars be noted as "2", but with three numbers following?Sam wrote:This call sheet lists 78 and 80.

Hi Kenji,
I think that's exactly how the two cars were used,it does fit.

Re: Is this guy selling the original Magnum P.I.'s Ferrari 3
Hi Styles,
I still believe the numbers are the 308 year numbers...HOWEVER..I noticed that the 84 is used in the episode????
The way I read the 2 Luther's..29,87 and 25 doesn't have anything to do with the car,I think it's for the makeup dept.
If you look under "Special Notes"
MU Bruise on face of Gladys-31..Bandage on Tom,25,29,om both-79
If you remember the episode both TM and Luther had matching bandages over the right eye. There are two people listed for makeup, seems odd but maybe each are refereed on the call sheets by number,in this case 79 and 87.

That throws a wrench into things.......Luther Gillis: File #521 was from Season 4 (1983-84) so the 1984 Ferrari makes sense.....back to the drawing board.Sam wrote:Hi Styles,

I found this 308 link that contains a quick video about a surgeon who supposedly bought one of the original cars used in the show....check out his lic. plate.

Click on the Ferrari 308 category just above this video to see other videos about all things 308.
