It's crazy! Why did they pick somebody so young? Higgins, whoever it (she/he) is, needs to be a generation older than Magnum! Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Emma Thompson, Vanessa Redgrave... Somebody like that!

I'm wondering if the storyline will have her being a niece or a second cousin twice removed to JQH or will they not even make that connection at all. Time will tell.

LOL! THAT would be awesome!

But then I guess you'd be stuck with "where do you go from there"? Who is this modern day Higgins and TM? Why are they in the present, and why do they have the same names as the characters who lived in the 80's? This isn't Star Trek. You can't just explain it away as the workings of an alternate universe/timeline! You really can't win either way. And if they tried to set it in the 80's with new actors, well, that would suck, too!

I really think the only good option (other than the original cast coming back, which ain't going to happen!) was the Lily "Tommy" Magnum story line that ABC tried to get off the ground a couple of years ago. Set in the present, but following the timeline of the original series into the future. And you open the door for possible cameo appearances from the original cast! With the right producers, writers and directors, it could have worked brilliantly!

But, it is what it is. Reboots are all the rage right now. Recycle, reuse, regurgitate! 30 years from now we will probably have a reboot of the reboot!

Seriously? The only changes are that actor who play Magnum is Latino-American and that Magnum is a veteran from Afghanistan, and Higgins is a woman and at a similar age as Magnum, the rest is like in the original (they did the same with the two main actors in Hawaii Five-0, in the original, Jack Lord was 17 years older than James MacArthur, and in reebot two main actors are the same age, and that was the great decision). Not too many series shows have as many similarities as in the original, just look at MacGyver.

Magnum is P.I., a war veteran, he lives in Hawaii, he works for Masters in his estate (and there he lives), drives a Ferrari, and arguing with Higgins about everything. Higgins she is British, majordomo, character traits have the same, and like in original will be Zeus & Apollo. In the show will also be T.C, Rick, Lt. Tanaka. And these are only things that we know about, because there will be other things for sure.

When I saw that Peter Lenkov had only posted a pic of the gate from the outside, and then wrote "OG Robin’s Nest" I was reading between the lines and figured if he said "original" then that means they'll be using a new/different Robin's Nest for the reboot.

However, I just saw that Lenkov posted these in November, the day John Hillerman passed away, obviously taken INSIDE the grounds... and unless the photographer had a drone, one shot is taken from the lanai above the courtyard...

Yes, it does appear that Lenkov and his location scouts are checking the place out!
It will be interesting to see if Pahonu gets the green light. I wonder if he has thought of using it in an episode of the HFO reboot?
My thought, if they were able to get inside the gates to take some pics, then the Nesbitts must be open to the idea of some filming there...depending on the compensation etc.. I'm guessing Lenkov will want to cut down or move one of the younger palm trees that is now blocking the famous driveway view that we are all used too. If you refer to the listing pics you will see what I mean, heck, maybe the Nesbitts took it out months ago.

That's the little fella RG! The palm fronds are so low to the ground that they really block some of view up the drive....I'm sure Eve didn't mind, but for filming they might...time will tell if this little guy is sacrificed or not. Thanks again for digging that up!!

I'm not buying that they are going to use the original estate for a reboot. They would have to spend a ton of money to get it looking halfway decent. At this point the show does not even have the green light; it's only in the pilot stage. I figure PL was scouting the place out last fall so they could find something similar that doesn't need several million bucks in repairs.
