Man, that is ridiculous.

The big bad NCAA strikes again. I will say, Cozi was really remiss in not checking that out first. Was it the fact that it was "March Madness" in the titles, or the brackets that sunk it?

Either way Conch we saw them (I checked it out where I could)... You were great and represented the forum like no one else could. A fun, great experience and we're all proud that you made it happen. You could tell how excited you were just to be doing it, and it made my day.

And boo to the NCAA.

Maybe.. Just maybe, they could do some sort of top ten at some other point? They already have the perfect guy!

As if the NCAA needed any more reasons to be reviled.

I was surprised no one on the team checked out the "March Madness" usage prior to proceeding with the project, that's what delayed the promos initially, legal found out and they recut things to focus on "Magnum Madness". I guess there's a little bit of "better to beg forgiveness than ask permission" involved in some of these things. By the time word gets around you are already done.

As for future projects, right now Cozi is focusing on their new pickups and the summer will be about Starsky and Hutch and Knight Rider. They did say they were happy with how everything came out and my work with them and that do do want to do other Magnum focused promotions down the road.

I can't say enough how much fun this has been and I appreciate all the support you guys have given me. I figure we should use this thread for any other Magnum promotion ideas we have. I had mentioned to Cozi early on, after the first SuperFan spot last year, that I'd love to be their Robert Osborne for Magnum and intro the episodes and I think that kind of morphed to the Magnum Madness thing since I do give the little bits about each episode. I am in regular contact with the program director and have already mentioned about Movember and PI Day so who knows?

Sometimes you need to plant your own seeds. 8)

We should get a Magnum discussion podcast. That would be fun!

But, Magnum Madness shall live on here.

Hey Conch, I saw COZI is running a Bionic Woman Mother’s Day promotion. I wonder if they got prior approval from any mothers’ associations…"MADD", "Mothers in Business", "La Leche League"…

hi magnum fans, hope your sweet 16 went well, despite the hiccup. sorry, i didn't read all 100+ posts but it looks like b-ball tried to wiz on your parade - idiots.

well, i've been reading the forums for a few years now, finally decided to register, i suppose since the talk of the cozi tv marathon got me thinking about the show. i don't own the series on dvd, just too lazy to buy it i guess, and i was afraid i might burn out from over-viewing, i did this somewhat with casablanca. i have a radio view of tv, i watch it every time it's on.

ok, what am i mumblin' about, as fans i know there's not much you guys don't know about mpi but if you would, share in my excitement for a moment. well, along with the talk here of ctv and the marathon, i also noticed encore classic listing mpi reruns in the directv guide, but i dont subscribe to any of the pay networks. i began to think about the show again - and then i saw the commercial of an mpi marathon on esquire - woohoo, this i do get! i looked forward to it like a new movie coming out, really, i did. on the west coast it started at 4am on a thursday, believe it or not i had nothing to do so i set my alarm for 3:30am, and with the excitement of christmas morning i got up, splashed water on my face, made coffee and waited to reconnect with what had felt like old friends - cheezy as it sounds this is how i felt. the helicopter, the guitar, the water, the ferrari - those too short shorts. i was really stoked, about the show, not so much the shorts :) the first week was i believe 8 episodes - from the 2 ep pilot on thru to 'ugliest dog'. what great fun.

so far esquire has went thru the series in order from season 1 thru season 6, a few changes, 5 eps one week, 2 eps the next, 4am, 9am, but in order. this week we are back to 6 hours (and i'm glad i looked ahead) - they changed to wednesday morning. this week 'old acquaintance' to 'paniolo'.

well, i'll be around the forums asking questions here and there, definitely to whine should esquire stop before they finish the series, should this happen i will probably buy the complete series on dvd if it's worth it.

anyway, thanks for listening, sorry for bablin' but mpi is simply one of the coolest tv shows of all time, and it had been many years since i had seen it and this marathon has been very fun, a nice break from our crazy present day world and the reality show garbage that is nearly all of present day programming.

talk to you soon,

mike

oh, i'm too lazy to hit 'shift' if you didn't already notice but i try to use the comma and period appropriately :)

Hi Mike, welcome aboard.

I had the same reaction when I realized that we just started getting Esquire on our "Suddenlink" cable selection.
I do have the entire series on disc, bought them one at a time before they were available as a "set". I agree whole-heartedly about the feeling elicited by this tv show.

There was a jubulation associated with it being aired on public tv though...can't really explain it, I mean commercials and all (blech!) but I guess it is just the fact that somebody includes it in their programming lineup indicating that it IS still appealing enough to a large enough audience to warrent them dedicating time to showing it. Kind of puts it in the same class with Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, Perry Mason, Beverly Hillbillies, etc. Not that it's in any of those genre's, but that it is considered part of "classic" tv. It always was to me, but seeing it broadcast like that, just gives it a boost toward that status. Ok, rambling now.....my specialty! :magnum:

Anyway, glad you decided to join up, look forward to seeing you post in the future.
"C'mon TC...nothing can go wrong!"

Yes indeed, welcome aboard! On my comcast here in Chicago I get Magnum on Esquire, COZI and Encore. This may sound crazy but I am almost on Magnum overload, that is on a Thursday I could conceivably get 12+ episodes of the show depending on how many Esquire decides to show on any particular Thursday. I am at the point where I only watch what I consider my top episodes and try to catch them on Encore. On Encore they are uninterupted, uncut for commercials and even have the episode previews before the opening. Is this blasphemous???
