Magnum Jungle Bird Shirt! Help!

Have any of the ladies on the MM boards ordered one of these shirts? If so, how's the fit? I want one, but the measurements listed for the women's extra small still sound a bit large for me. I know Hawaiian shirts are supposed to be loose, but I don't want to look like I'm wearing a giant floral print mumu!

Yup...this is exactly what I got a week ago! I've wanted one for so long, and I finally did it! I love these shirts too...and I've ordered the other famous Magnum one as well--the purple Cala-lily one! It should be here in the next few days.

It looks like the Jungle Bird shirt Selleck wore in the show didn't have the front pocket, I wounder if the pocket can be removed without damaging the shirt.

I have the Jungle Bird and the Purple Cala Lilly, both are great.

Now I'm in search of the white one he wore in season one a few times.

I've read that the exact design of the original Jungle Bird shirt that Selleck wore on the show has purposely been slightly changed...so as to keep his the original. But, the changes are so slight that you don't notice them. However, perhaps the pocket is one that is somewhat noticeable? I would not recommend removing it as it will most likely cause damage and/or make the shirt look very strange. But I guess you could try? Is it that much of a problem?

I have the Jungle Bird and am awaiting my Purple Cala-Lilly to arrive this week. I have also noticed and liked the white one you're referring to--shown in the cool pic you provided! I've looked around a little but have not found any design and/or shirt that looks comparable.

I don't know if Magnum's white one was also made by Paradise Found too (like the Jungle Bird and Cala-Lily ones), or if it was gotten somewhere else? If you come across it, or one very much like it, let me know!

I removed the pocket last night, It came off very essay. Then I sprayed the shirt with some water and air dried it. You can't even see that there was a pocket. It worked great.

I have a women's shirt. I first bought a Small based on the Maui Shirts website measurements, but it was too small. I'm 5' 3" and weigh 110 lbs., and the medium fits me best. Based on the manufacturer's measurements, I'd say the women's sizes run slightly small. JMO based on what fits me.

And the women's shirt I got does NOT have a pocket.

Brian, I'm not surprised the pocket came off easily -- I was about to post that it should be easy to remove because it's just top-stitched in place, so snipping the stitches carefully and wiggling the fabric around to shift the displaced threads back into line shouldn't cause a problem as long as nothing has been actually cut.

Thanks for the info Golf! I just ordered one in xtra small and hoping for the best! I hate returning stuff when I have to pay shipping fees.

Anyway for those that want to order from Mauishirts.com, I found a $5 off promo code on retailmenot.com. The code is M109. Sometimes those codes don't work, but I just used it and it did work. Also, the shirt is on sale right now.

I don't think it's the exact shirt...but it's somewhat similar. From what I could tell, all the "Magnum" shirts that MauiShirts.com sells are "grouped" together so when you click on one, the others are brought up at the bottom too. They are the Jungle Bird, the Cala-Lilly, and the Star Orchid. I don't care as much for the Star Orchid so that's why I'm getting the other two first. I may get the Orchid one eventually, as well. But, I'd love to find the white one instead! I need to go back and look at some of the episodes where he wears the white one and truly study it.

I emailed both Maui Shirts and another shirt place (the name escapes me right now) and both replied that they don't recognize the pattern.

My eyes have been blurred for weeks comparing different styles to the picture, so far, nothing matches better than my first find.
