I was watching the tv the other night and during the commercials heard the MPI theme song being played, BUT it was for a Maybelline product called FALSIES mascara! There is a helicopter and a motorcycle in the commercial, but no red sportscar..... I wondered what ad exec. thought this one up! I love hearing the song, don't get me wrong, but I think there is a better fit such a special song.
What products/services etc. does everyone think it would fit better with?
I think it would be a great 'Visit Hawaii" commercial theme song.
I think the theme fits with nothing else. Only one image for me, and that's the original show.
I loved it when the Dave Clark Five told Glad Garbage bags to get stuffed (pun intended) and couldn't use their song. Alas along came Michael Jackson and Pepsi commercials.... the rest is history, even Zeppelin music sells Cadillacs.
The Magnum PI theme flogging makeup sucks.
Of course this changes nothing between us. I still expect you to respect the rules and regulations pertaining to your stay on the estate. There will be no wild parties, no outragous liberties, no unauthorized overnight guests...
If they felt the need to use a retro television theme song, why didn't they use the Charlie's Angels theme song? That commercial has the look and feel of 'Charlie's Angels 3.0'.

True, the Magnum theme song certainly doesn't fit the commercial at all.
nope - wait a minute - it is exciting puting mascara on without sticking that brush into one of my eyes (which happens nearly every time) or having little black dots somewhere in my face where they def. don`t belong - so yes, very exciting
Sometimes I get so lucky, even I don`t believe it (TSM)
Frankly I found that completely nobody to use this theme song for a publicity
of mascara ! They should have chosen the other thing.
The theme song of MPI have nothing to do with the make-up !
Thanks for the additional comments from your July thread.
You get top billing on this one.
Sorry if I offended you - didn't see yours.......I guess I was still in shock about the commercial which still puzzles me!
Does anyone know someone from Maybelline, who could help us understand why they picked this song (other than it's very catchy)?
