Guess who I saw in an INFOMERCIAL!!!

#1 Post by SelleckLover »

Since sleeping is not something I do well since my first heart attack way back on October 1, 2007, I find that I spend a lot of time reading and watching infomercials into the wee hours of the morning. Guess who I saw on a Tony Robbins Ultimate Edge informercial this morning?! Our TS was front and center as kind of a moderator of sorts, asking Tony questions. I didn't catch the beginning, only the last 20 minutes or so and at the end it showed TS and Tony standing together. All I have to say is Tony Robbins must be a gigantic person because he made TS look like a pip-squeak! Don't know why TS would be in this Guthy-Renker production...I would prefer to think that he owns a piece of the action!

Just thought I'd share. :D

Heh! Yeah, Anthony Robbins is like 6'7"! He's also extremely wealthy. I'm sure Tom got a boat load of cash for his appearance on the infomercial. ;)

I just saw this infomercial the other night (actually at 5:00am..prime infomercial time!).

I must say Tom was looking rather Magnum-like with his khaki pants, loafers with no socks while sitting on the deck of Tony's Figi resort (looked just like Hawaii!). My first thought actually was...this man needs to give us a Magnum movie! Now!

Wow - that's interesting. I haven't seen it. Normally, I would take participating in an infomercial is a real sell-out, but I think that Tony Robbins and his whole philosophy has probably helped a lot of people. My guess is that TS has benefited from Tony Robbins work he wouldn't have done it.

Oh brother......The next thing you know Tom will be imagining Fat Jack's sister Eunice to have the looks of Jilly Mack (not a fan of infomercials or Tony Robbins)

Hi and welcome!

I think TS and Tony know each other from talk shows they've been on together in the past. TS mentioned that. There was a long list of stars and athletes that seemed to use Tony's program. Not sure if Tom used it though. I do know that Tony is a big guy like SelleckLover said. He towered over Tom! Not something you see too often!

And Steve...is anyone a fan of infomercials??? lol

You have to admit...Tony did something right having Tom as moderator. Made me stop and watch!

Response to our beloved TS' doing this seems NOT to be favorable:

one report on TS' appearance

However, I'm really ambivalent about this. I know TS always wants to earn money, but orange juice commercials (okay), RV commercials (okay but starting to look at little . . . .), INFOMERCIALS (desperate!!).

This guy should have plenty of money, really. What the heck is going on?

I think most people feel you can never have too much money. Maybe he is getting too much $ to pass up?

Maybe TS had his money tied up in the stock market and now finds himself without cash......

Maybe a combination of:
  • a daughter in college (who is probably not getting financial aid?),
  • who participates at a high level in somewhat expensive sport; and
  • perhaps some financial difficulties with the family real estate business?
I'm just guessing about the real estate business. Maybe they aren't having any problems (don't want to start any rumors), but given the economy I wouldn't be surprised if they are. And I seem to recall reading that during the recession in the early '90's he did lend some additional financial help to the family business.

In fact, I found a recent (10/17) article that notes --
Springville interchange has come to a standstill
Disagreements among investors have stalled massive project

The city has decided to move forward with a public works project required to build an estimated $32-million interchange on the 101 Freeway despite the fact that infighting among the project's private investors has brought the deal to a standstill. ...

As part of the utility corridor project, underground conduits and vault structures will be relocated to the new West Ventura Boulevard. Selleck Properties will spend $9 million to build a fourlane extension of the boulevard from behind Home Depot to Bajo Agua Avenue. Selleck is building a shopping center in Camarillo.
