Magnum prop wallet

#1 Post by MagnumILWU »

I just won a bid on e-bay for a Magnum pi prop wallet! The red wallet with the white stripe. It has;a drivers license, Id's, PI license, etc. Photo's, and even a 2 dollar bill! I'm pretty happy!

Congrats!

But isn't that more a replica than a prop?

Yes, but the fun is just having the wallet, and all the stuff inside! Have many things are you going to have that were really in the show? If you have a Detroit baseball cap, it isn't the 'one' Magnum wore in the show, but he did wear a Tigers cap, so you buy one!

Sorry if I came over harsh.
I totally understand your motives and am happy to share your enjoyment with the replica.

It's just that the use of the term "prop" has exploded and noone really differentiates anymore between the very rare props and the still rare replica ;)

Replica of a prop, moreso. Prop is property, something small enough to be handled by the actor. Set decoration would the the larger things. replicas of famous props of course, would be prop replicas....
If one refers to it as a prop, it came from a set, and was the kuleana of the property master. prop master's stuff.
Replicas of props is big business and a helluva lotta fun. take a look thru web sites and ebay, prop replicas

Split into two major groups. Licensed and unlicensed.

Yeah, James has that on the Magnum Gear page. That ebay guy has a good little business going on. The prop stuff in the wallet are fun though. Is the two dollar bill a real one or phony?

not only that;
His two different licenses should have two different respective license numbers. But they should both display the same DOB. It is just the reverse!
