Why this site Rocks!
While watching episode 161 Resolutions (1), I wondered about the left handed salute to Tecumseh.
While I know Americans salute with no headress (something never done in British and Commonwealth Armed Forces), I knew TS would never allow a flub with a LH salute.
I looked up the episode on this site and found out the reason for the salute:
`At the Naval Academy, notice how Magnum salutes the Statue of Tecumseh with his left hand. This is not a flub. Midshipmen offer a left-handed salute to Tecumseh as a tribute`.
This is an example of what a great resource this site it.

You are so right! This is a great site. It might have something to do with why MPI attracts us?! There is a great forum question on just that subject in the not too distant past. I think the site rocks for a number of reasons but mostly because people who like the show admire the values and relationships involving the four main characters. We perhaps see those values as desirable in ourselves. Hence, we're a pretty good crew and keep the questions and answers on the up and up. "Higgins approved" so to speak.
Also, the site administrator did an amazing job setting this up and continues to do you in managing it. There are tons of useful and informative links throughout. Is there anything else like it for a TV series that began almost 30 years ago? Star Trek maybe, but that's it.
Thank you!!!

I agree. Before finding MM I thought I was pretty sharp for picking up on a few interesting facts and flubs. But after looking through the episode by episode rundowns compiled by James, I was humbled - to say the least!
"How fiendishly deceptive of you Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent."

Hey, thanks Higgy_baby. I appreciate it!
But really it's the MPI fans that make this site rock, especially the "Magnum Maniacs" of the forum. Most of the stuff on the site has been the result of a collaborative endeavor, and I try to give credit where credit is due. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that this little side project of mine would turn into something as big as it is now!
Funny story about the Tecumseh statue. I actually had that as a flub initially! Thankfully somebody corrected me (I can't remember who it was now)! So you see, the site is really a big "Peer Review" project!

If Old Dusseldorf isn't available, I'll take a Mohito!N1095A wrote:So, if anyone ever sees James in a bar, be sure to buy him an Old Dusseldorf.

At least we can still nail TC for that left handed salute in his picture with Alexis in Paradice Blues. What were they thinking? Must have been some dramatic arts intern that put one past the technial advisors.... but TC should have known.James J. Walters wrote:Funny story about the Tecumseh statue. And of course this is noted in the episode section, and yet another reason why TSR (this site rocks).
Of course this changes nothing between us. I still expect you to respect the rules and regulations pertaining to your stay on the estate. There will be no wild parties, no outragous liberties, no unauthorized overnight guests...
I am a newbie here but I think this site rocks:
- because it's about MPI, which is one of the most entertaining tv series ever produced.
- because there are tons of interesting information and a lot of nice guys (and gals of course) sharing their knowledge with others.
- because everybody is kind and friendly, making this a nice group of people to be associated with.
- because it is a good place to spent some time in, talking with interesting people.
- because James is doing a great job.
I'm very happy to have found this wonderful community.

I know this an older post, but I would Like to say thank you, for making me feel welcome here, I really didn't know that they were this many Magnum fans still around, At times I felt like I was the only one. Every one here is so nice . Lets just say Magnum fans are awesome
Magnum, feed the lads, would you? There are steaks in the freezer. Yes you can have one too.
This site does rock and I want to say thanks to those who started it, maintain it and pay for it.
I really appreciate it.
I like how active it is and I also like how friendly and helpful everyone who
posts here is. Def the most civil and polite forum I have ever been a part
of. Mag Mania attracts 'quality clientele'.
Part of my episode watching now is to read the episode guide for whatever
one it is I am watching and then reading the forum posts for that episode.
Sometimes it breathes new life into episodes having some fresh backstory
and new things to look out for. Lets face it, most us have seen all the episodes
quite a bit and being able to view them with "more intel" makes them
fresh again.
Thx and keep up the good work!
