Old Dusseldorf
Well, perfectlykevin brought this up in another thread.
What do you think Old Dusseldorf would taste like?
I always imagined Dinkel Acker Dark (http://www.tobp.com/review/beer.asp?t=365) would be a good place to start.
And, while it should be in the long neck, I think it's perfect in this:
http://www.hawaiibulk.com/product/TH791 ... I_MUG.html
It's my mug of choice in my backyard tikibar.
What do you think it would taste like???

I have a very cool wife!James J. Walters wrote:Dude, you've got a tiki bar in your backyard! Nice! I'm so jealous!
It's a labor of love. A few years ago she needed an operation so we couldn't go on our planned trip to the Florida Keys. She said "why don't we bring the Keys to us and build a small bar in the yard?" With that seed of an idea, Flemingo Key was born. 10 feet long and 4 feet deep.
One of the first things I put inside was my TS collectors plate which I got back in the late 80's.
This season I'll be adding a small flat screen and DirectTV so I can watch my Mets lose in style!

I have only found the Tiki Mug for Magnum. I don't think any of the other characters were made.IKnowWhatYoureThinking wrote:Nice set up! Do Higgins and the guys come with Magnum as a set or is he stand alone?
The plate was a gift and made by the Bradford Exchange. It's noted on the back as Tom Selleck, so I don't think they made a series with the full cast or others individually.

I am the proud owner of that plate as well. I have it hanging over my desk. My husband puts up with it...LOL He also puts up with my mouse pad that has TS on it. The mouse pad picture is the one where he's standing in the tide pool with only swim trunks on and he's talking on a cordless phone that looks like a brick with an antenna on it!

LOL! The bit about the Mets made me crack up! I'm pretty jealous too of that great hang-out spot! I think you need to make a King Kamehameha plaque like the club's for the entrance. Looks like a place where Magnum would order one of those famous long-necks.ConchRepublican wrote:I have a very cool wife!James J. Walters wrote:Dude, you've got a tiki bar in your backyard! Nice! Since Kenji woke this up, I thought I'd respond to perfectlykevin with some of the new signs at Flemingo Key.perfectlykevin wrote:LOL! The bit about the Mets made me crack up! One we had painted in Key West:
A lighted one I had made on EBAY (it was a steal!)
Still searching for the elusive Old Dusseldorf, Coops and Magnum IPA however . . .

Cool!
Is there a story behind "Flemingo" key? Is your last name Fleming or I'm I reading into it too far?

Dang, I'm not on Facebook. Say, Kenji...I think you've mention beer a few times in posts...do you home brew? And if so, have you tried any Dusseldorf styles? Or has anyone else out there? I'd love to give brewing a try. OK, now my mouth is watering and it's only 3 pm here.ConchRepublican wrote:Bingo!!PhatCat wrote:Cool!
