Not To Investigate

#1 Post by T.Q. »

Anyone remember which episode Magnum talks about farmers being paid to not grow something?

Then asked what things he could get paid for to not investigate?

Thanks.
Knocking my rubber chicken or my sloppy habits is within the rules, but you're attacking my character. I would like to think you don't mean that.

Hi TQ..
The episode is Blind Justice.. I don't remember the particulars but this was in the notes.

Magnum: Well, would a murder be worth more than a burglery, for instance? I mean, I'd hate to waste my time not investigaing the penny ante stuff.

Hey TQ,
I recall the scene but haven’t seen it in quite a long time. It’s not high on my list. I don’t remember him mentioning farmers. I take it that would be in reference to the Agricultural Adjustment Act from FDR’s New Deal. I’m surprised I don’t remember that since I teach it and usually make a mental note of such things.

What I do remember is that TM was a bit indignant that he was being asked to stop investigating something for more money, so he was sarcastically asking if not investigating serious crimes would be more profitable for him.

Now I feel like I need to watch it to see if I remembered it correctly or not.

Thanks gentlemen.

That's the one.

Blind Justice.
You would pay me not to investigate?

It's kind of like a government subsidy not to grow wheat.

So in other words, let's say you had a case, insurance fraud. Well how much would that be worth to me?

I mean would I be payed on a commission bases, or hourly, I could spend a lot of time not investigating.

Well would a murder be worth more than a burglary for instance. I mean I'd hate to waste my time not investigating the penny ante stuff.

No, no. This is a fascinating concept I just need some time to think about it.

You know maybe I could bring some cases to you. There's this one case that I haven't been investigating for nearly five years. Would this payment be retroactive?
Sam, did you look it up because you were bang on so great memory or you cheated

Nice! Now I don’t have to track down the episode.

I’d say all of our memories were pretty close, and together they were quite accurate.

Lol! Sam hasn’t been around much in recent years, but don’t let that fool you. His Magnum IQ is pretty much as good as it gets!

Word for word though.

My little voice is telling me he got some assistance.

If not, pretty amazing. :D

Hi TQ...
No way in hell did I know the quote verbatim. I did however remember the episode and then consult the guide. 😁

I see that you did say it was in the notes in your original post. I glossed over that too. Still, pulling the scene from memory is impressive!
