Hello all,
the Encore Classics Channel schedule shows MPI
as usual through November 30th.
However on December First the MPI time slot
shows "TBD".
The shows before and after MPI have been
replaced by movies.
Regards...ron

Welcome rtc.

I don't get Encore, but we used to get MPI on Esquire and it suffered the same fate, i.e., they took it off.
Replaced it with Burn Notice and other things.

If you don't have them already, better get your copy of the DVD's if you want to be able to enjoy your Magnum fix whenever you want.

Unless somebody in tinsel town decides to put a big push on for our beloved series, it looks like it will go the way of so many others from the past.

I guess it doesn't play to wide enough audiences like Andy Griffith, I love Lucy, Gillgan's Island, etc. to warrant prime time coverage, even on the "oldies" stations.

There's always a chance though, we could start a write in campaign. They still show Perry Mason, Rockford Files and Quincy here on "Me-TV....don't see why Magnum wouldn't fit in that genre somewhere!

Everybody that was a diehard fan of the show when it first aired has aged, and there doesn't seem to be sufficient numbers of younger viewers to justify (at least to the advertises) airing it regularly. At least that's one theory.

The ladies that grew up swooning over TS are still swooning, but now they watch Blue Bloods and wait for new Jesse Stone movies.

We'll always have TM, TC, Rick and Higgy baby in our hearts and on disc, if we can't have them on air, cable or dish. :magnum:
"C'mon TC...nothing can go wrong!"

Thanks 308guy.

Used the rest of my tax refund to get the series on DVD
last spring in anticipation of this happening.

You can view MPI online here:

http://motionempire.org/Browse_TV-Shows ... 21741.html

Somehow I managed to miss the entire 8 year run on broadcast in the 80's.
Stumbled across it in late March 2014 and was hooked.

Magnum Mania has been a tremendous help in my MPI "education".
All questions have been answered save one:

When was the final scene (Rick's wedding) filmed?

Using all available information my guess is the week before Christmas
1987...the 2001 E! Entertainment said "late '87".

Guess I'm a Magnum geek now <G>.

Regards...ron

MPI is still on the schedule in December. For some reason it is not on Friday, October 30th.

Thanks Fr. Paddy...it *is* on past November 30th in the same time slot.
On the monthly schedule they still show TBD in this time slot.

Interesting to note that MPI was the only "old" show to stay on the
new December schedule, ratings must be good, like the show.

Re: my quest to know when the last scene of MPI was
filmed (the wedding scene),just received an email
from Larry Manetti confirming it was March 1988.
There is a picture showing a board from MPI with
a date of 3-4-88 on this website.
So guess my quest is over...for now.

Update:

The Encore Classics Channel Schedule has been
fleshed out a little now and it appears that MPI
will continue into January but only with the first
hour (7 p.m. ET).

The second hour will be replaced beginning the first
full week in December with the A-Team.

Apparently the thinking is that one show with 'Nam veterans
is as as good as another.
