I can confirm your link is the right one. I've been there two years ago :steveadl wrote:hmmm that first link gate I posted may not be the right one. The stairs beginning is a bit further north west, this gate may get you there, but the one below is apparently closer to the beginning:

A couple streets away from the other entrance.
Heading to Hawaii

A couple of things not mentioned is the traffic...try to stay off H1 from 0600 hrs to 0830 hrs going east into Honolulu and in the afternoon going west from Honolulu. You'll save hours by not sitting in H1's "parking lot" over the course of your visit.
Diamond Head has been closed for a bit (my daughter tried to head up there disregarding dad's warning), but that was last Tuesday so check before you head there just in case.
Try not going up the Kam Hwy to the North Shore in the morning, especially on Sat. The surfers head up there and the traffic can be bad, mostly because many of the parking areas are on the Mauka (mountain side) and traffic is held up with folks walking across the Kam to get the beaches.
In my view, the best lookout is the one at Puu Ualakaa Park off of Round Top Drive. The view is magificent and was used in at least one episode when TM's ghost is talking to Michelle and her boyfriend shows up...don't remember the name of the episode. Anyway, travel Punahou north towards Manoa and turn left on Nehoa just before the first curve. Turn right at the first light (Makiki) and follow the signs for Round Top Drive. enter the park and follow the road that veers off to the left just before the bldgs and main parking area. You won't be disappointed, just make sure any valuables you have with is locked in the car and not the trunk.
A number of episodes were shot inside Bellows Field locate at Waimanalo on the windward side. If you can go there, do it on Sat or Sun because it is closed to the public during the week. Only us military and retirees can get you inside. It will be crowded because it is one of the best beaches on the island.
Good luck and enjoy your trip

Wow, great pics indeed! The last photo shows you over Waialua Bay, which has me wondering... did you fly over Puaena Point and other filming locations around there? Waialua Sugar Mill maybe? And I'm guessing you took off and landed at Dillingham Airfield? Did you drop by any North Shore locations while on the ground?
You must have had a fantastic time in any case.
