Re: The Welcome Wagon

I knew when you said that, that you had to be describing Dallas. Or possibly Houston, which is a lot like Dallas except with the climate of Calcutta.

Re:

This is one of my favorite episodes. I thought R.J. was just adorable. He sure knew how to get into trouble. However, if he was 20 years old, what was he still doing in boarding school? I enjoyed the episode but thought RJ was a psycho. Borderline creepy stalkerism. Made trouble for Magnum, disresp...

Re: The Welcome Wagon

I was just a girl then[...] This statement confused me for a bit because I thought you were a guy. :D (...from your avatar. I'm also confused when guys have girl avatars.) But you have a goat avatar... Yeah, I like Higgy Baby too. That's why two of my favourite episodes are the ones that fo...

Re: Adelaide (1.14)

Also, what is so funny about ensuring security for a valuable horse? These are the same guys who made a very big deal out of ensuring security for a carved figurine that was worth a fraction of what the horse was said to be worth. What's the joke?

911

Nobody ever calls 911 on the show, despite countless incidences where it would have been appropriate. I seem to recall 911 being "a thing" in the 1980s so I looked up how old the system is, and it seems like it was not operational in all areas then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9-1-1#History Anyone...

Re: The Eighth Part of the Village (3.4)

What I remember most is the scene at the warehouse/loading dock when TM picked up the "cargo." Then I remember the last scenes where Higgins and the girls' father interface. What was so wonderfully shown was the honor and respect between two enemies that lasted for 40 years. It was, though, at this...

Re:

This episode also has a time-line flub involving Higgins. In the scene right after Magnum falls into the water at the dock, the camera cuts to a shot of the estate at night and then Higgins and Mioshi (posing as Asani) having dinner. Higgins is telling her how he and her father met during WWII. Hig...

Re: The Welcome Wagon

Hello! I have been posting a bit but did not see this thread before now. In the 1980s MPI was a pretty regular staple in our household. I was just a girl then and in the ensuing years I have not been into the show, but in recent months I somehow got a hankering for it and bought the DVD set. Now I a...

Re: Holmes Is Where the Heart Is (4.18)

This episode reminds me of Hemingway's words: "There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed."

Re: Torah, Torah, Torah (5.21)

Speaking of which, why is Carol so hated? I was mad at her when she tricked the gang into endangering themselves to advance her career and then denied knowing them when she saw them locked up, but are there other reasons? That don't involve her hairstyle?

Re: Re:

"There will always be a little piece of Higgins in the Torah" . This episode has one of my favorite scenes of any episode (along with the Magnum/Butler scene in "Compulsion"). I believe it takes place just before Rabbi Solomon says the line quoted above, when the Rabbi is telling Magnum of the firs...

Re: Adelaide (1.14)

Horse person here. This episode was so bad in terms of realism that I can't stand to watch it. Literally everything anyone said or did was wrong, wrong, wrong. Would make a great Rifftrax entry. I was going to make a post about all the flubs but it became too depressing. It would have taken very lit...

Re:

This is an excellent episode; I watched it last night! I liked the actress, thought the paintings were horrible, except one that was shot down at her house (!) but she was a strong, likable character. Me too. For a 1980s show, MPI had a lot of strong female characters, though many of them were villa...

Re: Being a WW2 vet, would Higgins really drive an Audi?

Totally concur. And that begs the question... who picked out the Ferrari? We never see Robin drive it or even ask about it; Higgins is very protective of it, prefers it parked in the driveway but occasionally drives it himself with obvious enjoyment... It must cost a ton to import a car like ...
