Stranded at sea. I wonder if a shark is gonna show up? Might they do some reminiscing? Will they be saved by their cohorts cause of some 'psychic connection'? That would be a different story line.Laohu wrote:MAGNUM AND HIGGINS ARE STRANDED AT SEA AFTER BEING “YACHT-JACKED” AND MUST REACH LAND BEFORE HIGGINS BLEEDS OUT FROM A BULLET WOUND AND THE CULPRITS RETURN TO FINISH THEM OFF, ON “MAGNUM P.I.,” MONDAY, MARCH 25

Certainly interesting seeing the repetitive negativity showing up on every new episode by the same people - particularly before the episodes have even aired.
Long time ago, it went over the edge from being funny and it is a true credit to the open mindness of some here.
We all get it, you don‘t like the reboot and there is absolutely nothing that the producers could do to make you happy. Infact, you don‘t want to be happy at all with the reboot.
In reality, you just behave like a bunch of trolls

A reminder - Magnum-Mania was founded in honor of the TV series Magnum, P.I. that ran from 1980 to 1988 starring Tom Selleck, John Hillerman, Roger Mosley and Larry Manetti.Bondtoys.de wrote:Certainly interesting seeing the repetitive negativity showing up on every new episode by the same people - particularly before the episodes have even aired.

Tom Selleck wants nothing to do with the/a reboot and will not make a guest appearance.
Roger was noted years ago, on film, as saying there's "only one Thomas Magnum".
I get it, some people enjoy the reboot, or want to enjoy the reboot. Or just like the virtual vacation.
But you can not come on this site and expect people to NOT be negative about the reboot.
And again, please be careful how you word things. "true credit to the open mindness of some here" once again borders on attacking people's character.

Yes, you don't agree with a post and then pull the "character card", I know.....
I'd wished that kind of sensitivity in your own posts.
So, do I get it right, that it's ok to attack the reboot repetitive in a kind of mob-mentality with all kind of mean adjectives and comments, including about the involved people, but it's borderline out-of line just criticizing the lack of openmindeness by the same people?
About what the purpose of Magnum-Mania is about, maybe I have misunderstood the "For all things Magnum P.I." totally wrong - this may be my poor language skills though.
To make is clearer, maybe you want to change to "Magnum-Mania - and Magnum, PI only, certainly not the reboot"
Pretty sure, the reboot will bring some new fans to the forum and I often wonder, what kind of impression all the hate for the reboot gives to them. Or manybe if someone is reading thru all this in a couple of years.
They must certainly be convinced that we are a friendly, welcoming and open-minded folk here.
And there is a big difference between "being negative about the reboot" and the constant and often off-topic hate that everybody can read in the reboot threads.
As for Selleck refusing to make a guest appearance. Certainly has nothing to do with the current reboot.
He'll refuse everything that doesn't have him in the main role, so your comparison is a bit like apples and oranges - and I am not attacking your character here.....

I know it is hard to believe but Thomas Magnum is a fictional character . Like many good fictional characters there going to be more then one actor who gets to play the role . Tom Selleck was great in the role like Sean Connery was as the first James Bond . What If when Connery stopped playing Bond they stopped making Bond films ? We would have missed out on a lot of fun and some good films and yes some off them are better then the ones that had the original actor in the role .
Tom Selleck has given his blessing for the reboot ,Roger has a guest appearance and the show is being made by the same network .Can we just create a thred for the hatered of the new show and stop posting it in every topic of the reboot ?
We alll come here because we like Magnum . The old or new or both we still come here to share a common interest .

Re: Season 1 Episode 19: Blood in the Water (1.19)
I remember a similar situation on my James Bond Forum, when Daniel Craig was announced for Casino Royale in 2006.
We are calling these years the Craig-Wars, and there where even webpages like "DanielcraigisnotBond" or "DanielCraigsittingnexttoamonkey" created to vent the usual traditionalism (to put it mildly) and social media vile.
I can see some similarities, Craig's height, the ears, the way he dresses, the wooden acting, the mubling, the fact that he can't drive a stick-shift, oh, he's blonde, M being now a woman (since the Brosnan age I am hearing this) and so on.....
The moderators and owners of AJB (AJB007.co.uk) could resist the desire to be the frontrunners of that movement and it has certainly calmed down over the years.
However, we still hear the occasional "sacrilege" or "thank you, EON - my childhood hero has been ruined" screams now and then - but they have gotten less....
It's also a familiar pattern by traditionalists to denounce the seriousness or sanity of supporters of the newer movies "you can't be a true Bond fan, if you enjoy that stuff". The term that comes up very often is "casual fans" or "casual audiences" as if they have no clue about the old movies and the interconnections and are just wasting oxygen by sitting in their cinema chairs with the main goal of eating as much popcorn as possible while watching a shallow show.
And Sean Connery doesn't want to have anything to do with James Bond since he left, quite contrary to Sir Roger Moore (who's Bond was absolutely dogshit by the traditionalists) who embraced the series and the fans and his successors when ever he could.

Comparing Magnum to James Bond is apples to oranges. Bond was a long running series of books before any movies were made.

Actually, Barry Nelson was the first James Bond doing Casino Royale in 1954 on the series Climax!Laohu wrote:I know it is hard to believe but Thomas Magnum is a fictional character .
