MPI on NCIS and Rescue Me.
Just wanted to mention tonight I watched NCIS and Rescue Me. Both shows featured guys wearing the Paradise Found (red) jungle bird shirt. The shirt was featured and commented on another episode of NCIS, but tonight there was a movie director (character) actually wearing it. On Rescue Me, Lenny Clarke's character was wearing the same iconic MPI shirt. Coincidence or a nod to MPI? The exact shirt isn't exactly a common one.

I think NCIS has made mention of the shirt several times. I recall one episode where DiNozzo found it in someone's closet when they were searching an apartment and commented that it was the "Holy Grail" of Magnum fans. However, it seems to have lost some of its "rarity" reputation when anyone with $65 can buy it from Maui Shirts, which, in the long run, isn't that much to pay for a man's shirt. Good ones retail for much more than that.
I was appalled to see it on Rescue Me. It shouldn't be on someone that large. Like wearing a Magnum tent . . . . . Sacrilege!!!!

Mike, I'm sorry you haven't been able to get into Burn Notice. It's still one of my current favorites. But maybe you had to see it from the beginning to appreciate the relationships between the characters, etc. I just find it so similar to MPI in that this guy has all these very competent friends who are always ready, willing, and able to help him for no fees, no reimbursement, etc. Don't they have jobs? Occasionally, Fi's is mentioned (bounty hunter, I think), but they're always available to him 24/7. But I guess that's just SOP when you're the lead in a TV show!

You know what I find interesting is I live in a big City like Chicago and see many Hawaiian Shirts in the Summer, yet have never seen either the Red or Black Paradise Found Jungle Bird Shirt on anyone other than me. It is even extremely rare to get a comment that someone recognizes it as the Magnum, pi shirt........golfmobile wrote:I think NCIS has made mention of the shirt several times.
