I agree with you 308GUY! My mom had a subscription to the National Enquirer! She passed away in 1989, but the paper kept coming for many months. It was around 1990-91, when I saw the ad! I was just lucky at the time, to see the ad, and have the $20.00 or so to pay for it! Of course my ring isn't real gold, but it looks like it! And if someone could make a ring for that price then, why not one now for a reasonable price?

I got my wife the pendant for Valentine's Day and I was really happy with the quality. I was from here:

I like that the guy is a Viet Nam vet . . . makes it all feel right.

CR: Yep, looked at that one too..it looks really nice..a quality piece for sure. While not entirely out of my range..I'd really rather spend less for something that's a "memento" rather than a piece of jewelry (which I normally don't wear) that I want.
Gonna check out the local pawn shops here, ya just never know what'll turn up in them from time to time. Meanwhile..I'll just keep checking ebay etc. and watch here..to see if maybe somebody comes across another source.
Thanks for the response N1095A, hope things are more back to "normal" for you by now. If/when you should get a chance to post a pic or two of the ring you got, it'll be appreciated. Sounds like you are satisfied with it, so that's a big plus in my book, and worth investigating further.
While we're on the subject: what's everybody's take on where to get a good VMO2 ball cap? As with the team rings, there seems to be an abundance of places that offer them. TIA for anybody that has info they care to share.

RocknRobbie.......contact him, not only does he own a screen used Ring as well as the mold used to make one of the originals...he also makes the ring from them, he also owns one of the original hats youre looking for and replicates them using that as a direct referrence...also is great friends with Larry Manneti himself...cant go wrong with authentic.308GUY wrote:CR: Yep, looked at that one too..it looks really nice..a quality piece for sure. It made me do it Higgins!!!
Thanks for your input OL.
I've looked over RocknRobbie's site...pretty impressive!
I did get a quote from him, about $300, which is still more than I wanted to spend. He did have one on ebay that was listed for around $160 that he says is made from a different metal, not brass, gold or silver, but looks like the gold or brass, you just have to polish it up every once in a while. I'd sure like to find one like was in the NE ad back in the 90's for less than $50, but I also wish I had a time machine
.
I'll keep watching the auction sites and checking local pawn shops. I'll end up with one sooner or later, and at a price I can live with.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your info.

Was sold by Larry Manetti? So what?MagnumILWU wrote:Since this ring was sold by Larry Manetti, and was an exact copy of the rings on the show, your opinion is just wrong! It still is the best looking ring I have seen in this forum!Magnum T. wrote:Uhm... the cross looks too big compared to the black area.MagnumILWU wrote:http://magnum-mania.com/images/team_rin ... _order.jpg I may be prejudice, but I still think this is the best looking ring I have seen!
My opinion.
We both know that there were several rings on the show and even between seasons there were slight differences.
I still think it doesn't look right, the best looking I have ever seen is the Lighter Side version.
It's my opinion, not wrong or right, just what I think.
Does this one look the best to you? Fine, no problem with me!
De gustibus.
I am afraid I am not a true MPI fan then, since a) I don't live in Hawaii b) I don't drive a Ferrari c) I don't wear Hawaiian shirts d) I don't smoke (much less cigars) f) I don't own a gun.MagnumILWU wrote: And if all of you are true Magnum fans, why would you want a steel or silver ring? On the show they were all gold!
Each one has his reason, I have several the main being I can't spend hundreds or thousands dollars for a ring.
Actually I managed to get one of those steel rings and I'm pretty happy with it.
It may not be as "cool" as some of the golden ones I've seen (but, on the other hand, I have seen golden rings I didn't like at all) but it's ok for me.
Not a true fan for this?
I'll live with that.

Seriously, we are back to this stuff again? Guys, this site is great for a reason because, one of many.. It is one of the few places left on the Internet where people haven't denigrated into name calling or admonishment for some perceived slight or difference of opinion.
We're here to enjoy and discuss our enjoyment of Magnum, whatever our fan level, budget or connection to the show.

As for the rings, I'm leaning towards the silver team ring here:
http://www.ourotherstore.com/COL-Ring-12X.html
I know it's not "true" to the series and what the guys wore, but I like the look and the plus is I'm more of a silver guy than a gold guy. I think that ring, with the matching cufflinks:

- would look sweet. It's a nice way to "sneak" my Magnum love into my business wear without being obvious.
Just like how my email notification on my Galaxy is the Chime, it's the little things that can make us smile along the way that make the difference.

cool. good price. i work with some ring manufacturers and i think I may be able to get something made much closer to our TM's ring with the concave look, gold look and more sharp cross detail. At least that is what I would want to wear. Think I will attempt it...
Anything ever become of this?
