I'll be making several posts with photos from my pilgrimage to Pahonu this past week. I did go back a couple of days after my initial visit and was able to get more photos without the guy in the hammock blocking the beach gate.

Seawall and beach gate. The blue cooler belongs to one of several fishermen who were fishing in the tidal pool.

The first pic of when I was almost there. I was literally almost misty eyed as I had stepped on sacred ground at this point.

Views into the estate. It is very overgrown and very little can be seen, so these are mostly basically shots of a jungle, sorry.

Image

The old pathway leading up from the beach to the grass. This is literally the best view into the estate you can get from the beach side unless you climb the fence. (No!)

Guesthouse/boathouse. All my photos were taken with my iPhone in its waterproof case, because I did not want to wade through the wavy water and across submerged slippery rocks with my real camera (I'm a klutz), so there is a bit of water glare occurring in some of these.

This is a quick shot from the passenger side of a moving car, into the estate towards where the house stood, I believe. I was with someone who is not a Magnum fan so was unable to stop and get more roadside shots... for now.

Ah, thanks for that. I haven't gotten that far into the series yet. Done with the first 3 seasons though, which many consider to be the best (so I hear). If Eve could so easily climb up and down those palm trees then I'm really impressed. I thought the only ones who could do this are the "natives" at the luau. Every luau you go to there's an obligatory climb up the palm tree (which always impresses me).

A few random shots.

You can't tell from this pic -- you could if I had had my real camera with its 42x zoom -- but I swear to God this is the Magnum Helicopter Tours chopper, stripes and all, flying over the estate as I stood in the tidal pool. I could NOT believe this happened.

Lots of small silvery fish in the tidal pool. Thousands.

Technically not Pahonu but let me throw in a shot of Makai Research Pier practically next door. I did not realize it was so close.

That's it for now!

Great pics, K Hale! Extraordinary! (in my best Higgins voice) :higgins:

I see that the surf is lower now. When I was there over a month ago the water came all the way to the steps at the rear gate. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics from the tidal pool because I wasn't about to risk my brand new iPhone X by taking it into the water with me. I knew I'd drop it and get it wet, especially with the waves the way they were. In fact it was almost impossible to walk over to the tidal pool. Swimming over was the best option for me, so my phone stayed in the Jeep.

And yes you are correct about the Magnum helicopter overhead. They fly over quite frequently. It's part of their route, naturally. One flew over me as well and I waved to them. This is their site: http://www.magnumhelicopters.com/

Anyway this seems like a good time to post some of my pics too...

This is me and my pilot after the Magnum helicopter tour flight (yes we flew over Pahonu)

Happy as a clam driving away after a swim in the tidal pool. I tried to do a burnout like the Mag did in his Ferrari (in the pilot) across from the gate, but resisted the temptation.

Panorama view from the top of Makapu'u Point, with Rabbit Island in the distance and Makapu'u lighthouse just below on the right

The Marks Estate (KKC entrance) is getting a face lift. As you can see it's been painted white too.

Waialae Beach, next to the Kahala Hilton and Kahala condos (where Jack Lord lived), which served as the KKC beach on the show. You can see the condos on the left in the first pic.

Wow Ivan, fantastic! I wondered if I missed pics from your trip, and was about to ask you. Great Kahala pics too (I love that entire stretch of beach) and especially enjoyed the Marks Estate pics, which we rarely see. If you have more, please share. :D

Oh, and p.s. - you look nothing like Ivan  OK, maybe a young Ivan?

Thanks RG! I love that stretch of beach in Kahala too. Apparently Jack Lord used to jog up and down this beach every single morning (he was a very early riser, a very punctual man), all this before his first cup of coffee and before heading out to film FIVE-O. So I guess jogging on this beach is something else McGarrett and the Mag have in common. :)

Yes I do have lots of pics... too many! I'll have to wade through them all and I'll try posting some, particularly MPI-related. I just plopped a few here but I'll try to keep them relevant to the thread. Those that aren't Pahonu related probably don't belong here. If you're interested I just posted James Shigeta's Punchbowl cemetery pics here: http://magnum-mania.com/Forum/viewtopic ... &start=390

Haha, this Ivan faked his death, had plastic surgery, and now appears younger. BTW, did Ivan ever have a last name? Was it ever mentioned?

Great pics K Hale and Ivan. Thanks for that! Did anyone notice the loss of sand at the boat house gate? That's quite a drop off from the ramp to the sand!

Yes, I was very surprised to see the sand loss, also at the main beach gate. There are steps under there!
