I received an MIA bracelet when I was in the military with the name of a fellow Floridian, Fredrick P. Crosby. Lt. Cdr., Fredrick P. Crosby was a Naval Aviator, shot down over North Vietnam in June 1965.
Once when TS was on Larry King, and a caller asked him the name on the bracelet.

Here's the link to a "rush transcript" of Selleck's appearance on Larry King Live on 7/21/2000. It's a fairly lengthy transcript and I may have read it too quickly, but it doesn't appear that this is the appearance where he was asked about Magnum's MIA bracelet. Even so, I thought there might be some interest in it ...

Hey N,

Thought you might be interested. In the episode "Fragments" you can just make out Kenneth Lancaster's name (middle name not on bracelet) on Magnum's MIA bracelet, and the date missing [1-3-68], but the rank appears to be "SGT" (Sergeant (E-5)), not SP4 (Specialist 4 (E-4)). There are several websites that sell MIA/POW bracelets. One I went to was www.powbracelets.com and has Kenneth Lancaster listed as "SSG" (Staff Sergeant (E-6)). I guess it's not surprising that some of the information might vary, (i.e., rank, etc.) since there are several different organizations selling these bracelets. I don't know where they get the information on each MIA. The organization I checked out also included his middle initial which wasn't present on Magnum's bracelet.

From what I could tell, it appears that he was a SP4. This U.S. Gov't document lists him as an E-4 (pay grade) which in the Army, is either a SP4 or a Corporal. The document can be viewed by going to this site: www.pow-miafamilies.org/states/maryland.pdf He is the 12th name listed on the document.

The scene where you can see the bracelet is just after Magnum leaves Archie's car lot and is being followed by Eddie and Archie's ex-wife. As Magnum is driving he looks into his side view mirror and sees Eddie's Cadillac get right on his rear bumper. Right after that shot, the camera cuts in on Magnum shifting and if you pause the DVD in several places you can see the name, date, etc.
The answer is obvious, old man. Logic is irrelevant. It's simply Tropical Madness. (J.Q. Higgins)

Thanks IH.
I'll check it out. I've found that a lot of weird things concerning rank have occoured with MIAs. I have the bracelet of one MIA whose rank has changed twice since his missing date, and another, Scott Speicher from Gulf War 1 who was actually premoted from LCDR to Captain since he was lost.

No problem N. Someone previously pointed out the very same problem regarding the rank of the returning POW in "Unfinished Business."

Oh wow, thanks IH! I knew there had to be a closeup shot of the bracelet somewhere! :)

Okay, I got the Invicta ladies' dive watch with the "Pepsi" bezel that looks like the MPI Rolex. And I got it for around $65, which is a pretty good price, I think, because it's a "discontinued" style and the REPLICAS of it are selling for $200!! (Go figure!) But it's really small, so I really don't like it that much.

So instead I went ahead and got a man's watch that looks like the Rolex, though I need to take at least four links out of the band, and the face is nearly as wide as my entire wrist. But I sure can read it. Compare this one's price to the Invicta:

MPI watch wannabe

If any female here wants the Invicta for the $65 I paid for it (I think you can't find it anywhere these days), PM me.

I'd like to find someone that can make a copy of the team ring exactly how it looks in the show. I've seen the ones on this site but they don't do exactly as I am wanting. I have a couple of rings I'm thinking of having melted down and used for my custom ring. If I eve do it I'll keep you guys posted.

Golf I just picked up the "Magnum Clone" watch on Ebay. With shipping and insurance I still got out for under $20. It looks fairly identical to his Rolex. For that price if I can just get a few years out of it I will be happy.

Is that the same one I got

Item No. 350047703770

for $9.99 plus shipping? I think it's a fine substitute, though it looks a little strange on my 6 1/4" wrist!! It practically covers the entire top of my arm at the wrist! Larry says he doesn't know if I should go snorkeling with it, as it might just pull me down like an anchor!

Though, now that I just spotted another one the same seller has, I like it better with the dial that can be lit:

with light

and it's only $4 more. But I don't need another one, fortunately. I don't plan on snorkeling at night anyway, and the light would just show "the bad guys" where I was, right?

Golf I actually got the one with the light. I opened my bid at $9.99. When I opened the auction only had four hours left. No one else bid on the watch and I walked away with it for under $20 after shipping and insurance. They shipped it last night, and I hope to have it by the middle of next week. Thanks for the heads up on this from one of your earlier post!

IKWYT,

My pleasure! Glad someone else got one at a good price too. To me, it doesn't really matter what the make of the watch is, since it can't be the Rolex. As long as the "look" is right, it's fine with me to pay under $20!!

Hi everybody :P
I have a little question. I have a "silver team ring" and i would like to know if you wear yours every day (at work for example) or just the week-end.
