Magnum's Boat Shoes

#1 Post by Danno »

Anyone recognise Magnum's ivory coloured boat shoes?

The classic boat shoe is the Sperry Top-Sider...
These are close...

My brother used to have some ivory-colored Sperry leather deck shoes (with the slits cut into the sole). I told him he should have bought the classic brown ones. But I didn't know that Magnum wore them. That's pretty cool.

As far as I know those were the exact shoes that he wore. I wore them too in high school although mine were dark brown.

I had those Pumas back in the late 70th. Here you " were" either Puma or Adidas. Back at school there was always the question "What are you, Puma or Adidas?" :)

In Germany, yes. State-side it was more Nike vs. Adidas.

Coops, in Germany I think it was cause the founders of Puma and Adidas were brothers and they had their mainfirms within eyesight and always quarreling about who has the better products. Not that big worldwide businesses like nowadays, a bit more familiar back than. - Ahh good old times - oops did I says that loud??

I think that unless you look at the tag all of the brands of top siders look the same. Tm could pull off the white, but I'd have to wear brown if it were me.

Sperry Topsiders - still the best. They're what I wear now.

I find it funny that something I wore in high school is now back in style. I guess it is true what they say about everything coming back around.
