Single most favourite episode
Sorry if this has been done before - I've scoured the old threads but couldn't find one - but what is your SINGLE FAVOURITE episode of the series, and why?
My two that spring to mind would be s4's 'Home From The Sea' and s5's 'Mac's Back'.
'Home From The Sea' is just such a unique episode - no bad guys, Magnum in real peril, and you really wonder how he's gonna survive.
'Mac's Back' - when Channel 5 (UK) reran the series 2002-3, I had never seen this far down the series previously. I was off work ill for some time, and watched my recording of the episode for the first time at about 4am one morning (!). I was hooked - was this Mac's ghost or what was going on?
Anyway, as I said ONE episode, I'll go for 'Home From The Sea'. Not a typical example of the series, but one of the best.
What would yours be? You can either pick one that you think is the perfect 'showcase' for the series, or one that is very personal to you.
I'm gonna be strict here and ask for just the best, no Top 5 or Top 10s etc., that's for another thread. You can pick one ep for a time capsule - what would it be and why?

Memories Are Forever wouldn't be far behind for me either. One of the best feature-length / two-parters IMO.
Glad to see 'Home From The Sea' is getting somelove!

Black On White is a personal favorite of mine too.
Home From The Sea is one of the best, especially in terms of showcasing the group's friendship and connection. But it lacks one of the essential ingredients that made the show great: The humor.
But Black On White hits all the show's major notes: Friendship, humor, action, drama, and mystery. It even manages to explore one of the series' most popular themes: The effect of war on its survivors.
Also, who can forget:

I honestly can't pick a favorite. Many people like the episodes that carry on the storyline, or have a lot of flashbacks that tie into it (ie Home from the Sea, Memories are Forever). They were good, but not my favorites. I liked the show for other reasons as well. Some episodes made me laugh a lot, the serious ones with good plot lines I also enjoyed (mostly from the first few seasons).
It's hard to pick, but the ones most entertaining to me were:
I Witness
Of Sound Mind
Otherwise, my favorite ones of each season are:
China Doll
Italian Ice
Flashback
Squeeze Play
Mac's Back
Way of the Stalking Horse
Limbo
Legend of the Lost Art

Higgins: You've washed the car?! How extraordinary. Why would you do such a thing?
