Say what? Now I'm even more confused. How could something not be made in a place if the label is cut off? Why is "made in China" something people don't want?

Nope. Quite the opposite. It's in those old shows that Blu-Ray really shows it's power. Cleaned up hi-def prints look like they were made yesterday. You see things you never noticed before.
