On reflection, I was somewhat surprised that Higgins did not reprimand Lani for showing Dennis Parker all the way into the house when they were having tea without checking first to see if Phoebe wanted to see him. Well, Lani was Phoebe's employee, not Higgins'. It would have been out of character f...

"South American mafia?" Since when Mexico is in South America, Higgins? Shame on you!

Also, although Mac v2.0 speaks good Spanish, he manages to get the singular of "federales" wrong. It's "federal", not "federalee".

Query: Was Magnum's hair shorter here because Selleck needed shorter hair for a role in some other show or movie? I assume there was some sort of real-life reason, so they worked the haircut into the episode as a gag, even though it served no plot purpose. Maybe Three Men And A Baby? In any case in...

I love Solo Flight, but not as much as Home From the Sea. Still, this episode is a showcase of what a wonderful actor Tom Selleck is. Just the way his voice gets all crazy gravelly (sp?) as the situation progresses... He seems to be channelling Clint Eastwood in this episode. Maybe that's his "grow...

Liked the episode, but it was a bit intense at times. It's one of a few that has stayed in my memory since viewing 20 years ago. Among all of the flubs found so far, it seems that no one has mentioned that the postion of the plane before Magnum is trapped and after he is trapped is exactly the same...

Decent episode, with two caveats: 1) Magnum really grates me when he behaves like a teenage girl. I know they were trying to make a point about turning a page and all that, but isn't that long overdue when you're a 43-year-old war veteran with a moustache? 2) Having chubby old Higgins jump from tree...

It's quite obvious that Rick and Ice Pick operate on a "I scratch your back and you scratch mine" basis. Given that Ice Pick is giving Rick scoops in every single episode, I wonder what can a club manager like Rick do to pay back so many favors to one of the most powerful gangstes in the islands. Ma...

The good thing about this episode is that Magnum and Higigns get to tell each other the things we actually think about them. Let's face it: Higgins can be a pompous fantasist and Magnum can be so irritatingly immature some times you feel like punching him. Things are close to get too nasty, but just...

Also, at one point in his voice over, Selleck refers to Higgins' memoirs as "memwoas" (as though with a British accent). I suppose this could be an attempt at mockery, but it seems more like mis-speak. I doubt Tom Selleck suddenly forgot how to speak English with his native accent. He was obviously...

To be precise, Glen Larson based the Robin Masters character on Harold Robbins.

I recall part of the reasoning that TM uses to prove Higgins is Robin Masters was that Higgins never belly laughs ... well, China Doll was on locally last week and Higgins was laughing that same belly laugh at the thought of Magnum as Mai Ling's "protector." He does mention that but it's nothing to...

This is one of my least favourite episodes. I'm not a big fan of Carol, but that's not all. There are just some things I don't like and some things that don't make sense. First, I don't feel like I need to know that much about Icepick. I like the character as a shady character. He's a bit of a scou...
