Re: Squeeze Play (4.7)

I watched this episode the other night and while not one of the best, mainly because of it centering baseball(a sport I don't follow not being american) the amusing character points were still there and the some amusing scenes. One aspect of the story I thought could have been developed was from the...

Re:

I need any Brits on the list to weigh in....but I may have spotted a rare instance of John Hillerman's Texas roots bleeding through. In the scene when Magnum comes to the study after he takes Vivien home, and they come to understand what happened--Higgins tells Magnum "I fixed pheasant" (I think it...

Re: Limited Engagement (4.5)

I saw this episode last night and apart from a few comedic moments this will not be one I'll hurry to watch again. The old ladies, while quite quaint initially, just got annoying when it came to accepting help from TM, of course there was a reason for that, as we discover later on, but they were rat...

Re: Smaller Than Life (4.3)

Like others before me I started to find the Waldo character annoying after quite a short time, even the way he said "figurine" I found annoying. Plus points were that Rick comes across as quite a likeable, decent guy and TM's rather silly attempt to impress the thrill-junkie girlfriend although Higg...

Re: Luther Gillis: File #521 (4.2)

Seen this episode yesterday and having seen it in sequence it is quite a change of pace from "Home from the sea". Luther himself has the snappiest dialogue in the show and I do like his slightly cliched/stereotyped private eye views (why did I think he was a real life version of "Inch High, Private ...

I get a little misty too at the end, especially with Magnums VO leading into the scene.
Especially at "I made it dad, I made it!....Why couldn't you?"

Re: Home From the Sea (4.1)

I watched this episode today and have given it a perfect ten despite a few flaws, mainly the intrusive/jarring aspects of Rick's sub plot and how the bikini-clad, blonde lovely distracted from the seriousness of the overall story. Of course you need light and shade in any masterpiece but these scene...

Barry Nelson (who plays William Knox, the film producer guy), was in another Bellisario/Larson production a few years earlier, Battlestar Galactica as Bogan in The Magnificent Warriors(1978). He plays a guy who hoodwinks one of the heroes into becoming town sheriff. I knew I recognised him from som...

Re: Legacy From a Friend (3.19)

Something I noticed watching this the other day was how lax security at Mrs Chase's place was - all TM had to do was to get into a dinghy and walk up the lawn.

Surely rich people like that would have something to keep prying eyes and invaders away from their property ?

Re: Forty Years From Sand Island (3.18)

The most interesting part of the episode is that none of this (save for the orchid growing case) ever would have happened if the Ferraris brakes hadn't failed. Had they not failed, Magnum would never have investigated and never found the link between Enoka and Sorenson. You're right there Doc, but ...

Re: Almost Home (3.11)

Kathleen Lloyd is much sexier here than she is as Carol. They made her too frumpy. Running contrary to the concensus I did not find Kathleen Lloyd at all glamorous, the grey hair takes away from the allure. Also her predecessor as Carol, the DA (I think she appeared in Double Jeopardy), was much mo...

Re: Did You See the Sunrise? (1) (3.1)

As a follow up to the above post it seems ITV4 have been airing Season 3 out of sequence and Did you see the Sunrise ? was shown this week. Also unlike DMAX(who aired MPI a few years back in the UK) who cut away from TM before he fired the shot at Ivan, it was shown in full, so top marks ITV4 for sh...

Actually, Most of the time when TC is acting like someone, he pulls the overacting bit. I kind of like it because it IS so over the top! Agreed, TC hamming it up is quite hilarious and in character as he is no way an actor of any description. Rick also overdoes the acting when he's reading lines in...

Re: Did You See the Sunrise? (1) (3.1)

ITV4 (in the UK)is currently showing MPI however after Three minus two they have gone straight to "Ki'is don't lie" - it seems like the censors on ITV have deemed this episode as politically unsuitable.

What a shame.
