Re: Matt Houston on DVD

Thread resurrection... I remember Matt Houston being on in the UK and liking it a lot in the 80s. Pamela Hensley (Princess Ardala in 'Buck Rogers') was his assistant. I certainly can't remember Matt Houston ever having a repeat showing hence its noticeable lack of fans around Europe. The DVD boxset ...

Re: Any Spenser: For Hire Fans?

Yes, I'd agree with that Ivan. I've been overdosing on Robert Urich TV movies recently and for me the most non-Urich Urich performances I've seen of late are in 'Killdozer' (1974) and 'The Defiant Ones' (1986). Killdozer is utterly preposterous and completely daft albeit with some fun music. I reall...

Re: CHiPs

A CHiPs thread ... love it. Time to bring it back to life after 10 years of dormancy? Why not! Should I be embarrassed to admit I've watched pretty much all of these during lockdown? Probably. UK satellite TV channel 'Forces TV' has broadcast all of these again including the much maligned season 6. ...

Re: The Rockford Files

The Rockford Files was repeated for years in the UK, and I'm pretty sure anyone British around my age who had a TV on the mid 80s will remember two things about this - the answering machine and the best TV theme ever* (* another debate). I watched the very first episode a little while back and apolo...

Re: anyone remember Harry O ?

Great info there on the locations and thanks for sharing Pahonu. I love tracking down THEN/NOW locations but must confess I've not done much on US shows, only really UK ones. It's a shame the locations have become rundown. I thought it was great that they shot him (sorry for the spoiler  for t...

Re: Any Spenser: For Hire Fans?

If you're after Robert Urich playing Spenser in a non-Spenser role, this is the closest I've seen him. I'm just curious but was there something unique about the Spenser character or how Urich played him? It's my understanding that Urich typically just plays himself. Was this not the case with Spens...

Re: Obscure Movie Recommendations

Rather than drift off topic I posted in the Harry O thread in Other TV Shows. I enjoyed Moon of the Wolf - the last 15 minutes were great. I love this sort of 70s stuff. 'Fer De Lance/Death Dive' looks like it was made on the cheap. Only the lord himself knows why David Jannsen is in it - I'm sure t...

Re: anyone remember Harry O ?

Holy thread resurrection - as I was writing about David Janssen elsewhere I thought this old thread needed an injection of contribution. 8) Harry O - what's nice about this series is it's not all action like so many LA shows of the period. Jannsen really acts it out and to be fair, they're all prett...

Re: Any Spenser: For Hire Fans?

I watched the 1989 TV movie 'Night Walk' with Robert Urich and Lovely, sorry Lesley-Anne Down. If you're after Robert Urich playing Spenser in a non-Spenser role, this is the closest I've seen him. It's always so disappointing to see an actor in some lame two-bob TV movie just after their hit series...

Re: Obscure Movie Recommendations

I'm also a Jannsen fan. If you'd like to see those films you don't have, send me a PM. I'm also a fan of Harry O, I've been watching them again recently haven't not seen 'em since the 90s. I'm currently just into the 2nd season. I managed to source the R1 DVDs as it's not been released in Eur...

Re: Obscure Movie Recommendations

I'm a bit late to this thread but I'm a bit of a fan US made-for-tv movies. I'd say anything action/thriller related with either David Jannsen or Robert Urich in it is worth a punt. Whether they are 'obscure' though is debatable... Some of my Jannsen faves: Warning Shot (1966), The Longest Night (19...

Re: Season 3 Episode 16: Bloodline (3.16)

I'd agree on the CGI, it's way too OTT. The worst was the Jack Lord effort, which was shockingly bad: http://www.abload.de/img/h9qmm.jpg I understand the dislike for these reboots but they are just evolved versions for a newer generation. I'm not promoting them by saying that, but they have to be tr...

Re: Any Spenser: For Hire Fans?

Image

Seagull and hair? Is that the hair he didn't use to have or the thing plonked on his bonce these days?

Image

I can't watch a single thing with Seagull in it.

Apologies, this seems to have drifted off topic.
