James, Sorry I missed the topic on the "By Its Cover" thread, but I agree it is technically not a room inside the house. I just wonder why they didn't use that film technique more often rather than the poor-looking screed hung outside the set. That being the case, the example from "Distant Relative"...

I have an '88 VW Westy camper van. It is true the older T3's are getting harder to find. The earlier models ('80 to '83 1/2) had the same 2.0 liter air-cooled engine used in late model T2 bays. The new van was considerably heavier and those engines were worked to death. Later 2.1 liter water-cooled ...

This is in reference to filming inside the actual Eve Anderson Estate. It is quite well known that she allowed very little access to the inside of the main house. Many of the scenes thought to have been filmed there, especially the pilot episode, have proved not to be. The porches were widely used a...

Thanks James and Styles, I tried using them last fall. I had all kinds of problems and gave up. I must have missed the information about textures and edge styles that's on there now (or it's been added). I'm excited to try again, but I'm going to be gone most of the next two weeks. I'll keep you pos...

That actually crossed my mind and I thought I was confusing it with George Orwell's book!

That's not a wallet. That's the cover to Van Halen's aptly titled Diver Down album. I also recognize the cover to the left with the baby on it, but it's name escapes me at the moment.

I have puzzled over this roof detail myself. For years I thought the room below had a vaulted or beamed ceiling. The eave of the roof lines up with the wall between the loggia and that room. However, the series finale to Hawaii Five-O "Woe to Woe Fat" shows the characters walk into that room and it ...

Hey James, I just found this thread of your model. It looks really cool! I am envious of all the vegitation you have in it. I know you had other limitations with materials, etc..., but foliage has been the biggest pain in my Sketchup model. I know mine is very accurate with the property tax sketches...

This just occured to me after a couple of decades watching the show. With all the exterior shots of the boathouse used in the episodes over the years, it is obvious the building has no chimney. Yet there, right in the center of the guest house set, is the fireplace. Despite all our dreams to the con...

Good work Styles, Seeing the photos chronologically like that shows how dramatic the change can be. After studying the photos for a while, a few thoughts come to mind. The first 2002 photo shows a huge amount of sand loss, but only near the gate. The other end seems fine. Styles, you are probably ri...

On first impression, I had thought the rocks were under the existing sand and exposed by erosion. If the area had been dredged by machines wouldn't the underlying rocks have been scooped up also?

I'm not so sure about all of this. I'm no expert, but I've lived in several places along the coast of Southern California: Santa Monica, Malibu, Santa Barbara. and now Long Beach, and have seen the sand level vary by as much as three to five feet from just one season to another! I understand the tro...

Shocked I got 18! Actually got Robert Mugabe, dictator/lifetime president of Zimbabwe, and missed the guy from "My name is Earl". I didn't know the actors name. Once I spelled "Elliott" as in Sam Elliott correctly I hit 18. Fun game though!

Thanks! I just thought fans might be interested in seeing some actual interior shots of the estate. They are scattered about throughout the forum, but a single page might make it simpler. I don't know if Eve Anderson was ever married. In his blog, Rick Romer stated she inherited it from her grandpar...

In the scene where TM is coming out of the guesthouse door and runs down the steps to trip over the crazy girl there is something interesting. This is really the boathouse not a guesthouse. This scene is a continuous shot (as far as I can tell). Watch the area behind TM while the door is open. You ...
