Re: Novel Connection (7.9)
I really liked how both parts (the Magnum episode and the Murder, She Wrote episode) each "felt" like their respective series, but Jessica and Magnum both seemed in character. Really sensetive writing I thought.

Re: Paper War (7.8)
A great episode and it really seems they had "upped" their game as they knew they were coming to the end of the series. I recall at the time not being surprised that Magnum confronted Higgins about being Robin Masters: there were rumors/fan theories about it long before the writers of the show decid...

Re: Death and Taxes (7.6)
What a great episode. I am a massive fan of Film Noir, so this pushed all the right buttons for me. It was a hard one to rate however: as a stand alone thriller with connections to previous cases, it was excellent. As a Magnum PI, I am not sure given the absence of series regulars.

Re: I wish Tom Selleck made 7 Magnum, PI movies
I can totally envision the Jesse Stone movies having been "Thomas Magnum" movies. Retired from Navy. Living in Tidewater, Virginia. Friends in the police force he could help with cases. They would have began the show with 8 years of character development already in the bag. There could have been so...

Re: 40th Anniversary Watch Party
Maybe I'm the only one still following along with the 40th anniversary... ? I think I watched "Dream a Little Dream" recently, but I know I still need to watch "I Witness." I am late to the party, but this sounds like a great idea. I'm watching my way through about 1 a week, but like the idea of wa...

Re: One Picture is Worth (7.3)
I just watched this for the first time and, after the slog that was LA (at least for me), I really liked it: vintage Magnum.
And Higgins impersonating Magnum was not only hilarious, but actually fit with the character and the plot.

Re: L.A. (2) (7.2)
I don't quite understand the point of this episode. It seemed like the script was half-finished or not fully thought out. There were so many loose ends and jumps in logic. Additionally, it didn't feel like a Magnum episode (as has been mentioned the sub-plot back in Hawaii seemed forced. Higgins han...

Re: Find Me a Rainbow (6.18)
My first viewing of this episode today and I found it slightly underwhelming. Highlights - Lydia, the pleasant beach “scenery”, Higgins getting splattered in the face with caviar and no Carol Baldwin. Lowlights - the final scene where the lost child turns up was rather jarring and unlikely, a repet...

Re: The Tom Selleck Thread
There is a lot of talk about Tom Selleck potentially losing his ranch once Blue Bloods is cancelled. I tend to think it is not true, that he was just being hyperbolic. But what does everyone else think?

Re: Way of the Stalking Horse (6.17)
I saw this episode for the first time today (only about 40 years after it was originally shown) and as many have noted it stands head and shoulders above most of season 6 (Kona Winds is a more than decent episode admittedly). A good, dark and atmospheric episode with a plot twist - something that e...

Re: This Island Isn't Big Enough (6.16)
This is another episode new to me and while it’s a somewhat average episode it did reveal one of those “it was acceptable in the ‘80’s” moments. The scene where TM forces his way into Starr Reed’s office made me feel uncomfortable - it was a man (ostensibly the hero of the story) using his strength...

Re: All Thieves on Deck (6.15)
I didn't enjoy this episode particularly well (too much like Murder She Wrote) but I also cheered out loud when the Skipper (Alan Hale Jr) appeared! He made it off the island!

Re: The Shorts!
Selleck certainly liked his shorts spray painted on. I’m glad someone finally commented on his shorts “wardrobe!” I remember when I started watching the MPI reruns a couple of years ago and the very short shorts bothered me, until I remembered that my ex-husband wore them in the 80’s too. I got so ...

Re: Paniolo (6.8)
This was reasonably entertaining and while I agree with some of the criticisms (including Rick and TC being shoe-horned in), I enjoyed the western feel and especially appreciated seeing a little more of Hawaii and learning about some of the history/culture.

Re: Round and Around (6.6)
Firstly dealing with grief; TC's face when he appeared at the door of his recently murdered friends house was so effective and I think Roger Mosely played that exactly right - in my view he would have seen friends/comrades being killed in combat and has had to deal with the deaths before. I know I'...
