Re: The Big Blow (3.22)

Apart from James Doohan (who needed more of a role in this episode), some unique sets, and a rare glimpse of RM, I did not care much for this episode. It had potential, but more attention should have gone into the plot. More could have been done to establish motives for each of the guests to want il...

"That's 'private investigator.' "

Oh please, don't bore us with another story of one of your tawdry divorce cases... < read with haughtiness and disdain >

(Joking, of course. That's awesome.)

Aloha.

Re: Did You See the Sunrise? (1) (3.1)

Well, it's like a pre-1959 (British Protectorate of) Brunei flag hung upside down, but that wouldn't explain the stars. It also reminds me of unofficial US Army flags (similar color scheme https://www.united-states-flag.com/army-strong-flag-3ftx5ft-nylon.html ), but I can't find that exact one. Aloha!

Re: Did You See the Sunrise? (1) (3.1)

Magnum meets vexillology. Two of my favorite subjects. Brunei is the closest, but without the stars. Maybe it used stars in the 1980s, or is some variant of the national flag of Brunei. But I don't see evidence of stars used in association with Brunei historically. In fact, until 1959 (as the Britis...

Re: Forty Years From Sand Island (3.18) Connection to Midway

At least two of the actors from this episode feature in 1976's Midway (underrated movie, in my humble opinion). One, of course, is Tom Selleck, playing TSM in Magnum, P.I. and the aide to Capt. Cyril Simard in Midway. Second, James Shigeta played Richard Enoka in 40 Years and Vice Admiral Chuichi Na...

Re: Birdman of Budapest (3.16)

A couple of questions. Was "Mrs. Roebuck" actually "Mr. Maynard"? Her evasiveness (and his absence) made me wonder, but at one point Higgins refers to Maynard being highly visible and a director of the King Kamehameha Club, so probably not. I think someone else pointed this out: I find no evidence t...

Re: Basket Case (3.15)

From what I've read, Dana Hill's dad directed t.v. commercials. Perhaps she got her athleticism and learned basketball from her mother, for despite one commenter here, she certainly has good hoops skills. Good on the casting folks to identify someone of her skills in regards to both basketball and a...

Re: Mixed Doubles (3.10)

Tennis, anyone? I must admit that as a tennis guy, I have a soft spot for this episode (and the technique does not bother me that much). One interesting tennis related tidbit: actor Nels Van Patten (playing tennis player Kenny Phelps, with whom Carrie Riordan quarreled) was, in reality, a serious te...
