Consumer machines muted the sound when scanning forward or back, though, so there should not have been the chipmunk chatter while he was rewinding. Note the car door sound that became a major plot point later on is not heard here....

I never liked Carol but that was the writing's fault, not the actress'. I finally liked, and even cared about her here, and Kathleen Lloyd gave a fine performance.
