A film collector friend of mine in the UK who works for the BBC told me that ITV did run Magnum from 35mm prints (he didn't specify how long though) but that likely all prints were junked.

So I've been rewatching the Magnum shows on DVD again, and what I've been noticing is that the visual quality seems to degrade slightly as the seasons go on. For instance, the first season is nice and sharp with fine grain and good colors, but most of the rest of them are kind of softer. Anyone else...

Considering they did release all seasons on DVD that shows its popularity. However many of the subsequent seasons after 2 or 3 just didn't look right if that makes sense. It could still be done, but after the latest 5/0 homage (the singing in the helicopter), a crossover is highly unlikely... plenty of shows/actors have played multiple characters... the actress who played Carol Baldwin on Magnum also played a different character in one episode earlier on
