Clearly one of the best episodes of the series and most likely in my all-time Top 10 which I'm actually scared to compile! Seems like a daunting task, especially since I could pick eight of that ten from the third season! As for "Flashback", I can see, looking back now that perhaps Donald P. Bellisa...

I was born in 1971 (as I *just now* posted on my Hawaii Five-O thread! ) And while I'm not from Magnum's generation, I was at that wonderfully impressionable age and MPI was *my* show growing up.

Hawaii Five-O: Any Fans?

As someone who was born in 1971, I should have had some kind of contact watching Hawaii Five-O, which seemed to be on in primetime and syndication forever. But I never saw the show as a kid. I knew there was such a show, and I knew the theme song and the catchphrase "Book 'em, Danno!" was also known...

I seem to remember another Mauna Loa ad where Hillerman gives a polite "No", despite the fact that she's a looker. That's the one ad I remember best.

Would it be okay if I used one of your screencaps for my avatar? While there aren't any "Little Garwood" avatars, I am keen on a few pics alreday up in the episode guide...

I always thought it was odd that Magnum's diet was full of so much junk food, considering how often he was in those "Iron Man" contests. Plus, there's his love of tennis, the surf ski, baseball, and swimming in the Estate's tide pool! Must be the "arrested adolescence" again! Of course, if TM *didn'...

I think it's interesting (but not surprising) that while he proceeds to trash MPI (or at least the few episodes he saw) he doesn't offer any programs that he *likes*! If you're going to trash something, give the reader an idea of what you think is good, so we know where you're coming from. Otherwise...

Thanks! My Google search turned up nada. I love that whispered "H-Yah!" JH emits when that 1980s chick goes after the nuts.

Does anyone else remember Hillerman's commercials for Mauna Loa macadamia nuts? I recall them airing often during MPI's run. Youtube has had the ads removed, so there would appear to be no way of viewing them. You'd think that a company would want their ad out there, unless it's too "old hat" for to...

I was nine when Magnum debuted in 1980, but didn't become hooked on the show until the end of the second season. The first episode I ever saw was THREE MINUS TWO. My best friend told me I'd love it and I did! You know, I'm really not sure if THREE MINUS TWO was my first or THE WOMAN ON THE BEACH. T...

And from what I've read about other forums, this one is also remarkable because no one is ever ugly and snapping at anyone else, no one gets mean-spirited or vicious or attacks anyone else for his/her opinion. That, I think, is quite a noteworthy condition, and I think the credit for the attitude e...

As a newbie here (but not to MPI), I have to say how impressed I am by the sheer volume of great information, especially in the episode guide, with all that cross referencing in the Higgins Timeline. Great job.

"Did You See the Sunrise" is quite simply my all-time favorite MPI episode. It was when I first saw it as an elevn-year old back in 1982, and it remains so today. I've since recognized the "Manchurian Candidate" aspect of this one, something I didn't know about 26(!) years ago. Bo Svenson is chillin...

If there's anything I can't stand, it's when a successful TV show foists a "Pilot" (no pun intended) on the audience as a ploy to try out a potentially new series. Star Trek did this with their dreadful "Assignment: Earth" episode and MPI did this with "Two Birds of a Feather." I like William Luckin...

I'm a MANNIX fan. At least I think so! The only time I ever got to see the show was during the summer of 1985, when my local independent station included it in their amazing late-night lineup. I stayed up late until 1am to watch Mission: Impossible but oftentimes I'd be so jacked up that I'd stick a...
