Several minutes have been cut, including most of the Navy reunion scene at the Annapolis bar! The bartender tells Magnum that the place is for officers only (or maybe it was just navy only), so I don't think it was a regular Annapolis bar, it was probably supposed to be the officer's club. And Magn...

This is the only time in the entire series that Magnum uses a mobile phone! There was another episode where Rick and TC used a similar mobile telephone and one episode where TM used the mobile telephone installed inside the Audi. I cannot recall the episode names... It would be nice to resolve this...

Re: Legend of the Lost Art (8.10)

[from Episode Note 1] The episode of commonly referred to as "The Raiders of the Lost Ark Episode". I think that's a typo, James -- the first "of" should probably be "is" or "was." [from Episode Note 3] In attempting to figure out Peter Ridley-Smythe's plan, several classic movies are mentioned [in...

Magnum makes an obvious effort to engage his friends' egos in his Adventure Company scheme (presumably in order to facilitate engaging their pocketbooks). Higgins is asked to share his knowledge of Hawaiian history and T.C. is needed for his chopper expertise. But where does Rick fit in? All that I ...

At one point in this episode, Buck Greene addresses Maggie as "Commander Poole." I think this really nails down the question of the correct way to address a Lt. Commander. I've also posted this info where the question was raised, on the "Infinity and Jelly Donuts" thread. I watched The Great Hawaiia...

Maggie answers a phone with, "Commander Poole" . Her badge clearly says 'Lieutenant Commander'. Is it acceptable for LCDR's to address themselves as "Commander"? In my experience it is okay to do this. I was in the army and Lt. Colonel's are often referred to as Colonel [etc.]. .... [But] there was...

Thanks, James. Does anyone recall if there's ever been a scene on Magnum where someone identifies him/herself as being from "Five-O"? (For example, the voice on the other end of TC's radio call.) Or any other official use of the term? If not, then perhaps people on Magnum are familiar with the Five-...

Maybe we can put Magnum's family tree on the site somewhere if anyone wants to make an attempt at it. Personally, I'd have it looks like he was inbred by the time I was finished with it. For some reason, I thought I took a stab at that somewhere around here. There are bits & pieces in various threa...

Anyone else not get why TM gift wrapped Higgins' pistol? We know from later in the episode that TM's gun was damaged, but gift wrapping Higgins' pistol? Magnum put it in the box so Higgins wouldn't see him with it. As we find out later, Magnum's own pistol was being repaired because he had damaged ...

Kathleen Lloyd, who played Carol, was born on September 13, 1948 (did they use her real birthday -- though not year -- for Carol?). To answer my own question, no, they didn't, just awfully close. In real life, actress Kathleen was born on September 13. In this episode, her character Carol was born ...

I don't really buy the premise that Carol was born in 1955 and is only 32. She has always seemed much older than that primarily because she has a very responsible job, and always seems to be the mature one in the group (along with Higgins), not to mention the touch of gray hair she has had since he...

Sorry, James! I realize it's confusing -- I had to draw myself a diagram, to be sure I had things straight, before I hit the Submit button. Maybe trying to be succinct wasn't such a great idea after all! First, I did make one unacknowledged assumption. It is perfectly possible that Magnum's Uncle Su...

Re: The Aunt Who Came to Dinner (7.20)

In one episode, Magnum refers to his "Great Aunt Phoebe." Since Phoebe is not a common name, I tend to assume that Aunt Phoebe is the same person, and is actually the aunt-by-marriage of one of TM's parents. ... Her apparent age does seem more appropriate for one of TM's own aunts .... I'm updating...

All I can say is, life sure was cheap back in the 80's -- Keyes is planning to off his wife for a measly 500 grand?!? I liked the way that almost everything turned out to be just part of Keyes's plot -- but there was still a little bit of spookiness left unexplained. I see this originally aired on N...

Re: Tigers Fan (8.4)

OK, but I still choose to believe that it was intended to be the same hat. (Though one could alternatively say that Magnum considered it to be an acceptable replacement for the one Tanaka had "confiscated" from him.) [From Episode Note 3] Lance White was a minor reccurring character played by Tom Se...
