Re: Best and weakest seasons!
Okay, I know I am obsessing on this seasonal rating stuff but I have some more information some of you might find interesting. The Nielsen ratings for MPI from more than one source seem to be: Season 1 - 14 Season 2 - 17 Season 3 - 4 Season 4 - 6 Season 5 - 15 Season 6,7,8 - Not in Top 30 I did find...

Re: Season 8 General Discussion
I was so, so glad when it was decided to have a Season 8. I did not like the Limbo ending. I think Season 8 said it best with Unfinished Business and Resolutions, both the episodes and the concepts as to the whole show. Yes, we had to tolerate a few "filler" or "light" episodes but that was OK with ...

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!!!marlboro wrote:I still think a Susan Johnson/Luther Gillis episode would have been comedy gold. Imagine "A Girl Named Sue" if CB had become a protege of Luther Gillis.

Re: How old is the average Magnum Maniac?
I guess I'll pull the average age down a bit again by just having turned 22. 8) Good to know I'm neither the very youngest one nor the only Magnum maniac born several years after the end of the series, considering most people of my age I know (not all, but the majority) would ask, "Magnum? We're ta...

Re: RIP Robert Loggia
Although Loggia was good in the Pilot Movie of MPI I wish he could have been a recurring character such as a crusty old, and serious, private detective who worked with Magnum a half dozen times or so like the character of Luther Gillis, only as I said, serious. I enjoyed Loggia in every role I saw h...

Re: Hill Street Blues
One of the greatest cop shows on TV! The stories, the cast , the characters! Just a hard, gritty, dramatic show. Capt Furillo, Hill and Renko, Sgt Esterhaus, Belker, and everyone else! Nothing like it, before or since! For about a four year run back in the early 80's, Thursday night was a great nig...

Re: The Rockford Files
Since I am still a newbie and getting in my two cents everywhere I will say that if I picked one private detective actor that men wanted to be like and women wanted to be with it would be James Garner/Jim Rockford. The show was also more believable and less fantasy than Magnum. I can see a former co...

Re: Older Detective Shows
Okay, I guess it is time to show my age because I don't see the show Peter Gunn on anyone's list or post. Talk about a theme song!!!!

Re: Best and weakest seasons!
[quote="KingKC"]I thought I would do some math and determine the average episode rating by season. Here are the results from highest to lowest: Season 7 = 8.4909 Season 1 = 8.3722 Season 8 = 8.3308 Season 4 = 8.2714 Season 3 = 8.2304 Season 2 = 8.2064 Season 5 = 8.15 Season 6 = 7.9619 I would really...

Re: The Dukes of Hazzard
The Dukes of Hazzard and another Friday night show, The Incredible Hulk, with Bill Bixby, were popular shows on Friday night in the early 1980s as I was eating dinner and waiting to go bar-hopping as the bars never got hoppin' until after 9 PM Central. I know that neither show would win any critical...

Re: Carol Burnett
Neat pics chickinthemiddle. Carol B has always been iconic in my book. Her shows with Tim Conway, Harvey Korman and Vicki Lawrence were a riot. But her performance on her two Magnum shows were just amusing. Heck, even the name she was given, Susan Johnson, was pretty darn bland!

Re: Simon & Simon Marathon on Esquire - Today!
This is fun! So many memories! I've posted before, Thursday night in the early 80's was great TV! 8pm-Magnum, PI. 9pm-Simon & Simon. 10pm-Hill Street Blues! I am with you MagnumILWU!!!!!! I have already posted that even though I am a newbie and I will probably post it again. The only difference was...

Re: Amy Yasbeck - Girlfriend ??
Thanks Sam
Now that I find a picture of her in a police uniform I remember her. I guess I really didn't pick up or remember the girlfriend part. The last season had pretty serious plots that overshadowed some things.

Re: Bridget or Carol?
I liked Kathleen Lloyd in both capacities but especially as Carol Baldwin. She added a dimension to the show of the legal system which was missing. It just seems like a private investigator would be involved in criminal legal issues and I don't remember a lot of those before Carol Baldwin came on th...

Re: John Hillerman
I am saddened to hear about John Hillerman and his health as he clearly was the second star of the show without whom it would not have been what it was. My best wishes to him and all of the cast as they age.
