Re: Carol Burnett
Neat pics chickinthemiddle. Carol B has always been iconic in my book. Her shows with Tim Conway, Harvey Korman and Vicki Lawrence were a riot. But her performance on her two Magnum shows were just amusing. Heck, even the name she was given, Susan Johnson, was pretty darn bland! KingKC Later I foun...

Re: Tropical Madness (2.7)
In Tropical Madness, TC and Rick help Magnum ambush the art thief, the Sumo Wrestler and the dwarf/midget---in the fray, the sumo wrestler grabs Rick and TC grabs the dwarf, the camera pans on TC holding the kicking midget well off the ground, and in the background we hear Rick scream, " Hey, get t...

Re: The Curse of the King Kamehameha Club (1.11)
I never realized how much of a uniform Higgins' dark suit jacket had become until I saw the second scene of this episode, with him wearing a light blue jacket It's so easy to forget how different season one was.

Re: The Elmo Ziller Story (2.21)
Not to totally give away my age, but Marcella Ziller looks like Jessie J auditioning for Little Orphan Annie :P http://magnum-mania.com/images/2_21_v_full.jpg Seriously though, I'm glad that despite Barbara Rhoades playing a similar (though more classy-dressed) character on Diagnosis: Murder , her c...

Re: Of Sound Mind (3.13)
With Magnum's speech to MacLeish at the end, I can see how Carlton and James (the nephew) wouldn't "have a motive" had MacLeish treated them better, but I have a hard time believing that Tony and Marina would be the same way. They weren't necessarily hostile to him in life, but there was no guarante...

Here's the first scene with Higgins' plane. Shame someone didn't upload the end scene with it.

Re: Skin Deep (1.6)
For a season one ep, this was pretty dark, especially given how gruesome the perceived suicide had to be to render the victim unrecognizable. And Mort Metzger! Funny how his presence in Hawaii after someone's horrible death was more of a "paid vacation" for him than becoming sheriff of Cabot Cove :P...

Re: The Hotel Dick (6.5)
Re-watched this recently, and while I can see how some might find the premise a tad stifling, I didn't find it terrible or unbearable to watch. Granted, Clyde Daltrey is on par with Judge Doom in terms of hilariously obvious villains, but the payoff at the end is pretty well-earned. Plus T.C. leapin...

Re: A Girl Named Sue (8.7)
I don't think the Magnum writers really tapped into Burnett's comedic potential. I think it would have been interesting if, instead of going to the Lucky Steele school, Carol Burnett had become a protege of Luther Gillis. I think she would have been hilarious doing a 60 minute impersonation of Gill...

Re: Missing Melody (7.11)
This wasn't a particularly memorable ep for me (though I prob wasn't bothered by the acting at the time), aside from the twist and the inclusion of Albert Popwell, who, I should clarify, wasn't "blown away" in Dirty Harry so much as incapacitated. I can't say the same for his characters in Magnum Fo...

Re: No Need to Know (1.5)
Hmm, well drawing from the best of my memory, this was a good episode early in the show's run, with a good twist, natch. As much as I will stand up for Carol Burnett, I get where some of the other posters were coming from in that Magnum's always with stunningly beautiful or "80s permed" women (who a...
