I thought that was a little odd as well, especially since many episodes in Season 8 had him reflecting on the "Sullivan side" of the family.

Yeah, Lani kind've jumped out at me as well.

It's funny that both girls are named Lani, and their sole purpose in the episode is (apparently) to get a smile from Magnum.

Does anyone think that Magnums sparing Quang Ki in this episode ever comes back to haunt him, sometime in his life after season 8? I don't think so, because he got Lily back. This probably wouldn't have happened if he had shot QK, since too many influential people would've wanted him punished. You ...

From what I recall, the shot BEGINS with the two of them in the water, striking the pose. Higgins just comes down to the beach to yell at Magnum (for whatever reason) and thats how the scene is set up and you never see HOW she got there. It was probably just something that Tom Selleck was doing beh...

he actually goes without the MIA bracelet, watch and team ring while camo'd up and in his sniper nest. There had to be some symbolism there Yeah, I think that was more of a symbolic gesture than a strategic one. Basically, the equivalent of a cop leaving his badge in the drawer before doing somethi...

I also thought the chemistry between Magnum and Susan was much better in Rembrandt's Girl. They had some genuinely funny moments in the vault ("We're going to run out of air?!!!"), and a nice farewell back at the guest house. Unfortunately, most of this episode feels like it's just recycling what wo...

What did he mean by that? That he spared the life of a fellow human being (QK), or by saving the lives of the remaining American POWs, by not killing QK even though he wanted to more than anything. I think it is the latter, that he saved the lives of the remaining POWs by not killing QK (even thoug...

I couldn't STAND that episode and even turned it off 1/2way through, which I NEVER do with Magnum, no matter how bad the episode. I thought it was great, but that's mainly because of James Garner. It's definitely a little strange to see TS playing a PI other than Magnum. There is another Rockford F...

This always reminds me of a Seinfeld episode titled, "The Limo". The setup is that George and Jerry- tired of waiting at the airport- decide to accept someone else's limo. George assumes the identity of the intended passenger, who is ultimately revealed to be the head of a Neo-Nazi organization. The...

I had a different take Shermy. My take on this final scene was that Joe thought that Magnum owned the estate and Higgins let Joe believe that, and that Higgins merely worked for Magnum. I'd say that's probably the correct interpretation. I should've rechecked it, since I merely assumed Joe had refe...

It's the calculations for his sniper shot, to help him determine the best way to remove Quang Ki. :)

Nice background info, James. This one feels like it was heavily recycled from previous episodes, but it's still a fairly entertaining story. As noted, one of the most interesting elements is Magnum's altered perception of the photograph. A really nice touch. I also like the fact that Magnum is 'hire...

So, I wonder if Magnum was playing the Raider's of the Lost ark atari video game. You remember that one? I actually bought one from ebay a few years ago, and it's definitely something that would've annoyed Thomas. :D Here's a vintage "how to" video that explains how to complete it. The game was so ...

I'm a huge fan of Raiders, so this is easily one of my favorite episodes. I love how our introduction to Connie is via a dance contest- a clever nod to Marion Ravenwood's drinking game. And kudos to whoever came up with the "whip falls short of the gunman" joke. It's also interesting that the ...
