However, I still do like "CSI" once in a while...it just seemed like almost every show went that route and it became over-kill. That's why I really am liking "Hawaii Five-0" (along with the superb filming locales) because it's kind of a refreshing "flash-back" to what shows were like before all the science stuff. :).
It's not so much the science, rather the computer technology they use and how fast they use it. They walk into that "war room" (or whatever it's called) where everything is backlit and instantaneously solve cases! Everything about everybody is available them in the blink of an eye. And the manipulation of electronic documents with their hands like Tom Cruise in Minority Report... I know they are supposed to be this elite crime fighting unit, and the whole "time compression" aspect of television, but man it just doesn't work like that! I say the same thing when I watch Criminal Minds. Both are good shows but sometimes the suspension of disbelief is just a little too much!
Higgins: It's not a scratch! It's a bloody gouge!

Yeah, and the constant Chevy commercial is pretty lame too.

One gripe I have about it is the way they always announce at a crime scene "5-0!" and everyone instantly knows who they are. If they're so elite and special, how would anyone instantly know what that means?

"Stand back, I'm 5-0."

"Good for you, I'm C3PO."

does seem ridiculous. Like it doesn't sound legal. or to code. or proper protocol. Like they should say Police! rather than announce what could be their birthday. or burger count order for the gang at the office.

"Five Oh!"

"Congrats!, I just turned forty myself!"

LOL! No...never really thought about it. But, I guess Subway sponsored that episode, huh. :P

Also, I don't care what they say...Jarrod did not lose his weight by just eating Subway. He had to have had professional trainers, special exercise regiments, and only certain (very few) Subway sandwiches are really that low in fat.

I wouldn't mind product placement as much if they paid to sponsor the whole show and make it commercial free.

I am with you on that IKWYT, as up here we have to endure mega commercials, some played over and over again in the space of one hour.

For that reason, I sure enjoyed watching the first season again on DVD.
Without commercials, this fast paced show, seems to run so much more smoothly.

I'm getting a bit annoyed with the gaps between new episodes! I would rather see them take more consecutive time off shoot 6 episodes and go off and shoot some more. I remember a few really good shows back in the day that lost viewers because of this issue. I hope they get in a groove soon and bang 4 or 5 new episodes in a row. You get interested in it and then they leave you hanging for 2 to 3 weeks......talk about torture!

I agree, but I think they're saving episodes for February. It's a big ratings month. Same thing will happen in April because May is a big ratings month, too...

Ed Asner is supposed to reprise his role as August March sometime this month. James Caan is supposed to guest star in an episode. So is Dennis Miller. In May, I believe there's supposed to be a two-episode crossover with NCIS that starts in Hawaii on a Monday and ends the next night in L.A. on NCIS. :D
