I think it's the Estate property.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
If it is from the estate, then the sea wall there has been altered. There’s no longer the overhanging ledge that both deflected spray and widened the wall for seating as we saw in many episodes. Their are plans on file to raise the sea walls everywhere but at the main house where they are highest, and to reinforce and repair the walls at those tall parts. Those repairs might be what we are looking at. I would say the island doesn’t look right so it’s likely not the estate.T.Q. wrote:From few days ago.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
You're right P.........definitely not the estate.......just a quick look at it has me thinking it's one of the Mokulua Islands (aka The Mokes) just down the road in Lanikai.Pahonu wrote:If it is from the estate, then the sea wall there has been altered. That particular island looks like Moku Iki .
There are walled properties down there that would fit with that pic too.
.
Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
Yeah, I had doubts based on the shape/angle of the island too.
You guys are right.

Yep, definitely not the estate. Those are Mokulua islands off Lanikai. I happened to be part of a kayak team that made my way to one of those islands when I was there in 2018. Great experience! Took probably close to 2 hours to row there, not easy going against the wind, but going back was smooth sailing as the wind was against our backs helping us along. While on the island we had lunch and took a little tour. I even took a dip in Queen Liliuokalani's very salty pool over there (it was her private getaway). I have pics somewhere.

Looks too deep and no pond.
That really seals the deal.
I really struck out on this one.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
I just wanted to post this picture that shows the perimeter wall of Pahonu from the neighboring property. This is not the Shriners’ side, but the other. It’s available for rental. The wall seems to slope down pretty significantly and has lots of sharp rocks on top, it looks like.

I also wanted to post these images. I came across one a few months ago. It turns out an architecture student (Moses Alm) used my SketchUp model and a rendering program called Lumion to create photorealistic images of the estate, including huge amounts of foliage I’ve been reluctant to add because it’s so tedious.. I contacted him and he sent me the other photos.

That's a real neat program there!!
Thanks for sharing them with us Pahonu!
Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
I vaguely remember seeing another pic from way back that may show those sharp rocks on top of the wall too. I think it was hard to make out with all the overgrown foliage that was hanging off the wall, but you could still see a tiny bit of them....that or the wall was missing some rock on top. I'll try and find the pic, but the one you have there is excellent and reveals that whole section of the wall very nicely. I know for sure on the Shriner's side they have that same sharp jagged rock on top.Pahonu wrote:I just wanted to post this picture that shows the perimeter wall of Pahonu from the neighboring property. Remember also, at some point similar rocks appeared on the lower sea wall tops where Magnum used to sit. I remember seeing this in photos. This was seemingly done to discourage people from sitting there. Even with beaches open to public access in Hawaii, as in California, anything above the mean high tide line is still private property as that would be.KENJI wrote:I vaguely remember seeing another pic from way back that may show those sharp rocks on top of the wall too. Yes they are even down on that lower sea wall like you mentioned.....definitely used as a deterrent from sitting and/or walking on. The perimeter side walls would still be easy to climb over with the those jagged pieces, but it would help prevent with sitting or walking on. I've seen kids playing on the lower lip/ledge on the Shriner's side of the wall before (almost a two tier wall on that side) and I'm sure those jagged pieces keeps the kids from climbing on the very top. Barbed wire would work even better, but that wouldn't be very neighborly or look nice either.
