What struck me as funny about this episode was that they were able to cast so many Flock of Seagull wannabees in Oahu for the Tijuana Tokyo scene (I know, it was the eighties, but come on). Also, how would you like to have been cast as an extra in that scene, then trying to explain to your kids 20 years later the skin tight hot red spandex pants that prominently feature your "bits"........LOL!

Agreed. This is just egregious. Tom Selleck should have thrown his weight around to get some thicker pants on that guy.

* In the final scene, when Magnum shoots Higgins’ model plane down, if you pause (freeze frame) just before the plane explodes, you can see that in this shot it is actually a bi-plane; I believe this shot to be taken from the third season episode ‘Of Sound Mind’.

100% correct. They did adjust the exposure a little, but it’s the same footage.

Anyone else see that, anyone have an opinion

I don't remember seeing it, but for some reason I can see him touching the ring as a sort of "fraternal" gesture. Sort of like, "I'm doing this for you buddy."

I don't have this episode so I can't comment but one thing I have noticed..With or without a ring..Selleck is always rubbing his ring finger with his thumb.

It’s totally a Tom Selleck gesture, I bet it’s subconscious, he even does it in the Jesse Stone movies.

Question which has been touched on previously here: the two scenes where TM is looking out at Higgins (and Agatha for the first one) flying the planes, is supposed to be looking from the questhouse, yes? So that kind of helps establish the physical location of it, (the guesthouse), or at least what we are supposed to accept it to be, but where were these shots actually taken from?

The shots look like they were really taken from inside Pahonu, through a window on the ocean side. Of course they want us to think TM is looking at them from the guesthouse. TM looks like he was superimposed.

I think there’s an argument to be made here that this shot was still created without violating the “they never shot inside the house” theory. To me it looks like he’s looking through this door (which looks like a window because of the tight shot):



If that’s the case, doesn’t that door open up onto this space, which would make it then “outside” in the loggia?

The doors with white arrows pointing at them in the pics both open to the living room, on opposite sides. One pair faces the sea wall and the other the arched loggia. The seawall side of the living room has the window in the middle (shown) then another pair of doors. The courtyard side has another pair of doors, opening to the patio in the ell, but no middle window.

I would say they were definitely filming from inside the house. Selleck and the crew are inside but the shot is looking out.
