The Jororo Kill (2.13)

I liked this one. While the "transvestite" thing is insensitive today, it's a generally good disguise for an assassin. Kate and Magnum have actual chemistry and a believable years-long relationship and her portrayal by Tyne Daly is worlds ahead of many of the mediocre-to-bad girls of the week that the show has. The plot moves clearly and understandably with legitimately earned reveals, actual drama with Kate's ambitions taking her too far in her desire for newfound relevancy (without ever having her cross the line into outright villainy), and clues that make sense.

I enjoyed this episode, and I thought it was interesting choice to reveal the assassins “secret” right off the bat. They did a great job with the costumes; I felt like it was really believable that he could pass himself off as a woman.

I like learning more about VMO2’s time in Vietnam, and have Tyne Daly’s character have that connection was a nice touch. I thought it was believable that she be so motivated to get the story. Still, something rubbed me the wrong way with her character. I’m just not ever a fan of the “get the story at any cost reporter” in general.

Still, good action and a fun episode!
