As my opinion of the entire series, along w/ Miami Vice, the Simpsons, etc., the first two seasons are the best before the writers either leave or run out of original, fresh ideas.

Maybe she was good looking but she could not replace Patricia McPherson in that one season of Knight Rider. McPherson was a much better actor and still pretty good looking.

McPherson may have been slightly better than Holden in the acting department (neither was a thespian of note) but Holden ran circles around McPherson in the looks department. I had a mad crush on her as a kid. Mad, I tell ya! :D McPherson was just "plain Jane".

She's the chick that was in an episode of Barney Miller, Paternity, where Wojo had an 'impotence/sterility' problem. She was fourth runner-up in the Miss New York State Thruway competition cause she dropped her baton.

Wojo: Maybe I should get a job with a harem.
Dietrich: Plenty of openings.

Wojo: Why don't we go get something to eat and try to figure out how to get you home tomorrow.
Girl: But, I don't have any place to stay tonight.
Wojo: Uh, well, we'll figure something out.
Girl: It's awfully nice of you to go out of your way for me. I mean, considering everything you must have on your mind.
Wojo: Well, not much I can do about it.
Girl: Well...maybe we can figure that out, too.
Wojo: Oh. Okay.

Actually I think everything is relative and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Comparatively speaking, even if neither is a great thespian, Patricia McPherson clearly out performs Rebecca Holden as an actress. Rebecca Holden may have had the flashy looks but Patricia McPherson had a simple beauty. To each his own in this world. Viva La difference!!!!!

Not a heck of a lot to say about this one. Unlike most commenters here, I found her version of Deja Vu to be a bit cheesy, and I found it hilarious/ridiculous how TM and Rick fall all over themselves to help her after she has a panic attack on her first day at work.

TC servicing the Ferrari is, of course, a classic Magnum scene/B plot. I love how TM says "never give work to your friends" as if he was doing TC some kind of favor by having him do free labor on the Ferrari.

Minor flub: At different points in the episode, TM refers to both a "Delta block" and a "Delta lock" on Delta One's file.

Overall, I think this is one of the weaker episodes of Season 1.

Question that has bothered me: Did Mac turncoat on the Mags? Who called Newton telling him that Magnum and the girl were looking for Eric?

Also, surprised no one caught this. A reflection in the Mag's glasses when he was talking to TC about the Ferrari. You can clearly see the film crew.

I someone dislike this episode.

The side story with T.C. fixing the Ferrari (and the money issues) saves it of course.
Knocking my rubber chicken or my sloppy habits is within the rules, but you're attacking my character. I would like to think you don't mean that.

I definitely go against the trend on the forum on this one, great episode!

I understand there is some acting chemistry or plot pacing off, as well as some nonsense parts of the plot that the viewer should try to overlook, however I recommend the viewer suspend their rational scrutiny for the viewing in the name of art (details such as leaving the girl with Newton etc).

The episode has all the elements of perfection although it has some kind of a rough draft, "first take" vibe that shouldn't spoil the effort put into the episode.

If you think about it, this has all of the classic Magnum elements (intricate plot, plenty of action mixed with comedy, destiny, distinct character development), perhaps being the first episode of the series to present all of the key elements. I give it a 9/10. Even just for the first true appearance of Mac and the future Buck Green, definitely an underrated episode. But perhaps some fancy Sir Algernon Farnsworth instead?...

That is totally right. This a main flaw in the realism of the script. Magnum should have, at least, checked it out... That is why i only rated it as pretty good in spite of quite a good plot (from my point of view) and a good action packed final and ... very wise (in the french dubbed version i did not checked the original) final words about vietman forgotten special agents by Magnum, reproving Newton.

The N. Hotel street chase was very well paced too. Bout i've got a question: if Magnum intended to catch Tobin alive, why did he blindly straffed with his .45 through the entrance ?? Seemed 'cowboy hard's way' to me :?

If this is a video you posted, I suggest using Vimeo instead. Magnum content gets pulled down pretty quickly from YouTube.

I liked this one...early episode helps establish the main characters...TM's thriftiness and the constant reliance on his buddies for favors. The Abbott and Costello bit and TC breaking the 4th wall...I think that was the only time someone other than TM has done that. Not a perfect story, but great in establishing the tone of the series, IMO.
