I'm hearing this episode will be directed by none other than Zachary Knighton.

Zachery Knighton is a dab hand at directing this episode, you can appreciate a lot of things he is bringing to the table.
The episode embraces the self-satire element - hello Luther - of classic Magnum PI, which they should have done more of seasons ago.

Fan fave Jin is back, with various small bits of business to make you smile.
From covering Juliet's shoulders and laptop with Cheeto's cheese dust as he munches over her shoulder, to getting stuck halfway through a doggy door to getting beat up by a female villain.

The episode is slyly poking fun at the whole detective genre what with Jin being way out in front in suspecting and investigating a little old lady's disappearance while
Magnum and Juliette scoff at him. With his instincts repeatedly being justified, the episode would have been better served if it was titled "Jin, PI"

What with the reported pleas/inputs of Jay and Stephen, Perdita and Zachery resulting in more emphasis on writing/story, I can only lament that hadn't happened earlier.
Instead of having Peter "let's do big boom booms while reducing the Magnum Story to a fanboy's idea of American servicemen" Lenkov.

Jon Lovitz briefly appears in a throwaway walk on role. Not to be mean but he looks like a seedy wreck, beyond the fact he is playing a low rent PI.
I truly hope he isn't experiencing some personal issues like so many SNL alums such as Belushi.

The last two minutes when Magnum and Juliette share a romantic moment at La Mariana was nicely done. It also showcased Perdita's transformation from a once skinny Welsh girl into a knockout.
She never looked better, letting it all hang out in a form fitting tiny cocktail dress. She must be one of the fittest women in Hollywood, as well as in her native Wales or even the whole of Albion.
Now if only she'd run a comb thru that mop on her head and stop cutting it with a lawn mower that only has half a dull blade. Good lord, it's been 5 seasons, nobody in makeup ever noticed?
