Another version of the "iconic" theme

#1 Post by PhatCat »

Hi Guys!

(I just love being able to say that and people here "get it")

I was checking out the audio page with the various theme songs and it seems I have an alternate version of the iconic Mike Post theme. If you listen to the drums (I'm a drummer too so I tend to tune into that) and also the guitar solo you'll hear there is a difference.

Who can I email it to for confirmation and another set of ears? I can't remember where I even downloaded it from. I've had it for a couple years. Found it on the internet of course.

Aloha PhatCat.
The answer is obvious, old man. Logic is irrelevant. It's simply Tropical Madness. (J.Q. Higgins)

Welcome PhatCat!

Is this one different from the one heard on "Mac's Back"?

You're welcome to email it to me if you want: jjwalters@magnum-mania.com

Hey there Phatcat!

Isn't it great when you find out there's more out there like you? It's kinda like that video "No Rain", well, not really, but . . . anyway, welcome!

Yup. It's different than that one. Right around 30 seconds in. The easiest thing to notice is the guitar solo.

James, it's coming your way via email.

Holy crap! I just found a fourth variant. Check this out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upc6yMKP ... re=related

So we've got the iconic theme, mac's back theme, iconic theme type II, and now iconic theme type III on this youtube clip.

Here's the easy way to spot the different takes. Listen to the guitar solos at about 30 through 45 sec section.

No one else on earth would care about this kind of stuff...

Yeah, the original "iconic" theme song, the second half of Season One and all of Season Two, is slightly different than the version heard in Seasons 3-8.

PhatCat, the track you sent me is very interesting. I've never heard it before. The tempo seems faster than the other versions.

Glad I could help contribute. I get kinda particular about my magnum. Wow, that sounds wierd.

Well, anyway, check out that youtube clip too. That's another version of the guitar solo and slightly different drum fills

Honestly the slightly faster tempo of the one I had I think it chalked up to whoever recorded it. Perhaps they recorded it from their VCR. Playback could have sped it up. The intro is supposed to be about 1 minute in length so I'm pretty sure that's the reason for it being :58 seconds.
