Las Vegas- Hurl...

#1 Post by lutherhgillis »

Does anyone like Las Vegas? For me, even with Selleck and the occasional reference to MPI, it is a very weak show. I cannot believe it has been on for 5 seasons.

I have a hint for NBC. Write an episode where RJ Masters shows up at the casino and tries to count cards at the blackjack table. Maybe Roger, Larry and John should show up at the casino for a Robin Masters Novel release party! Do something exciting for a change...

Yes It is my second favourite show( of course Magnum is the first!)
I do not think it lacks anything, so I have to disagree with you there lutherhgillis, but hey everyone is different.
Thanks for posting though.

Magnum: So far this case had cost me my right to the wine cellar, the last cash in my pocket, and nearly my life. If that clerk was lying to me, I was gonna come back down here and shove that Robin Masters paperback in his ear!

They did already have Larry and Roger appear on the show.

I've been watching mostly because of Tom Selleck being in the cast, and at first I really thought it was an awful show, full of awful characters, who did awfully stupid things. Now I think it has slightly improved and I'm enjoying it more -- although maybe I got stupider because of watching it. It's hard to say. I will say that I tried to watch this show a couple of times in past seasons, and I couldn't stand to watch it for even 10 minutes, so in my opinion it is better than it used to be.

In my opinion, LV would be vastly improved if just once Higgins could poke his head in and shout "Oh. My. God!".

Grape,

I saw the Lemon Bars show and it was marginal. It would have been better with more of Roger, Larry, and Tom.

Its great that you have grown to like Las Vegas.

Pardon this next line because I do not mean to imply anything to you but I believe it is a dumbed-down show. Without the T&A, pre/extramarital sex, hooters galore, and greed they would have no show. Now compare that with MPI which excelled in playing off the friendship between the characters and the struggle between good and evil (of sorts).

I'm and old stick in the mud for shure but it would be nice to see more shows that could stand on their talent and cleverness without resorting to the easy fix of T&A... etc.

Best,
Luther

I'm a relatively young stick in the mud, but I stopped watching the show soon after the episode with Roger and Larry. Before that I would mostly fast forward to the parts with Mr. Selleck. No surprise though, as I've said before I don't watch any prime-time network tv shows. :?

I think the show could do a lot better, if only they would have more Tom.
I watch every friday to see him and hope to see any little similarity to Magnum or any little glimpse of anything having to do with Magnum PI.
I think a good episode idea would be a Magnum PI convention with Rick,TC, hundreds of people dressed in Tom Magnum costumes. I mean everywhere you look they would be there, throughout the show. They could have Cooper in his hawaiian shirt and short shorts and who would come waltzing in, Higgybaby of course, and seeing Cooper he would say
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone thought about Cooper's initials.
What could A. J. stand for?
It could be Andrew Jackson. :?
The J could stand for Joey. :?
I did read an article on the net, they called him Jim.
I don't recall his first name being used yet.
Don't know where they got it from.
We need some more guesses.
Maybe they will reveal his full name next week, it will be the season finale.
I read someone is going to die, I sure hope it's not Cooper.

Tonight at 9 pm eastern.
Two hour season finale for all you out there who watch.
We are suppose to find out more about Cooper.
I watched Hollywood 411 last night, they had most of the cast on,except
Cooper. They stated there would be lots of surprises.
They showed part of the funeral scene from tonights show.
I saw most of the cast again, but no Cooper.
If Cooper's gone I have a feeling they will lose viewers
They sure will lose me. :(

I watched the show for the first time, and MAN was it terrible.

Ugh, I had almost wished they killed off Cooper to spare TS from his suffering.

His mysterious-ness borders on the infuriating.

I agree with golf in that they need to incorporate more of his natural personality.

Ugh

Hang in there Doc! The other characters get less annoying as time marches on. I had the same opinion as you earlier on, but now I find it is getting somewhat better. They just need to develop the Cooper character more. Like I said in another post: maybe they're holding back with the Cooper character as to not alienate the James Caan fans, and to tease us Magnum fans just enough to keep us interested.

Heck,

He was the one who decided to leave!

Who cares what his fans think, because they probably stopped watching the show when he left. Thats like if they DID kill off Cooper, I doubt any of us forum people would continue to watch.

Oh well,

I just want to see the lemon bar one and be on my merry way!

(That Piper girl is cute though!)

Sellecklover, I hope you're right about teasing us. Maybe next year
we will see more of the real Tom.
As I am writing this I hear his voice. oh, there he goes again, one of those
go RVing commercials.
My family says I really need help because I can recognize his voice.
I think it's a gift,
Doc Ibold, you make me laugh.
Sometimes it is a little much, but we have to put up with the other
characters so we can see TS.
I think we might have found out more if the season had been longer.
We are all tired of his mysteriousness.
TS has to work with what the writers give him.

Doc,

You're right about not watching if they killed off the Cooper character. I know I certainly would never watch the show if TS wasn't on it!

I have a better idea for season 6 of Las Vegas. They should reveal that Cooper is really Magnum in disguise. Magnum owns the casino because he inherited a fortune from Robin Masters/Higgins serveral years ago. TC and Rick show up to help catch RJ Masters who is trying to steal from Magnum's estate to support his drug habit. Kioki tends bar at the casino and Tinaka's nephew, Biff, works in security. Maybe Luther Gillis could come to Vegas for a visit.

Actually, what they need to do is to get away from the T&A and write some real stories for the actors to play out. I can't see how the series made it this long...
