Years ago we saw Gary Sandy (Travis) at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in a production of 'the Glass Menagerie.'

And of course - this week was turkey day... OMG turkeys are smashing to the ground...!!!
Sometimes I get so lucky, even I don`t believe it.

I love the episode where they get Fever and Venus drunk to test their reaction time on air.......and the more Johnny drinks...the faster he gets....while Venus is obliterated.

I think that's my favourite episode. I wonder if you could even air that these days? Might be criticized for encouraging DUI.

Did you know Jan made the cover of Newsweek before she was famous?
Here's an interview where she explains how she was chosen:

Anyone else pick up the complete series DVD box set? It is great to have this complete series finally out on DVD. One of the greatest, well-written, under appreciated comedies to come out of the late-70's/early-80's. Its end came to soon, yet if one watches the final episode from season 4, it does sort of conclude the series in its own way. At that point, the station and its formatting will survive, so one can conclude that life will simply continue as is and ultimately it is up to the viewer to decide the long-term fate of the individual cast members (assuming one doesn't take into consideration the syndicated reboot of the series several years later).

Nah, Bailey was cute in her own bookish way and I tend to prefer that type of woman, but in this case I have to say Jennifer was the hottest thing going.

As for the cool guys on the show, Johnny Fever was the best. His interactions with Venus Flytrap--what a great name, exceeded only by that same actor's "Marcel Proust 'Downtown' Brown"----are still the highlights as far as characters go.

I have fond memories of watching WKRP with my grandfather but the show, while excellent, reminds me of those "dark years" of 1977-1980 when TV to me meant very little--and I was just a kid then--but then Magnum truly signified the start of my personal "good old days."

I watched a lot of these, was a great show. The Turkey episode is the first one that comes to mind but one show when Les was doing sports and pronouncing Chi Chi Rodriguez wrong, something like Chiy Chiy Rod-re-go. Johny tried to help him out but Les didn't believe him.

Something more like "Chai-Chai Rodregueze" (with the emphasis awkwardly on "Rod"). Cracks me up even thinking about it!

X 10 on WKRP - That whole era (to me) was what they got amazingly right - MPI and S&S, vis-à-vis entertainment ... And what they got so horribly wrong ... Back in circa 2000, my friends and I, tossed an 80's "bash" in NYC and we really could not believe how many of I guess, the would-be "milleniums ?" loved it all (most of all, the cute girls :-)) ... It didn't hurt Rob Lowe and Heather Locklear showed up for a Cameo ...

[quote="J.J. Walters"]Fun show! Probably only saw a dozen episodes or so back in the day. I hear people talk about the "turkey" and "Who" episodes all the time, but I never had the privilege of watching them.
Jan Smithers was a real highlight for me. ;)

Along with JJ most people prefer Jan Smithers over Loni Anderson, as well as Dawn Welles(Mary Anne) over Ginger, two debates that will never be resolved and will endure far longer than any presidential ones.
Loni Anderson was married to my neighbor Norm's airline pilot nephew. I saw her when she visited right before her career took off in the early 1970's, usually in guest star babe parts on Spelling productions.
She was a brunette then and I can tell you the camera doesn't do her justice.
She was flawless and sans the Barbie Doll dye job and make up for her cliche WKRP role she was even more breathtaking.

I definitely vote the same as JJ and Dobie. Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) and Bailey Quarters (Jan Smithers) over "Ginger" and "Jennifer."
