Ellery Queen

#1 Post by Kolchak »

Got my Ellery Queen dvd set this past week. Great show from the mid 70s I remember watching as a little kid. The show scrubs up nicely and the mysteries are excellent, especially the way Jim Hutton as Queen spins around near the finale to ask you, the viewer at home, if you know who did it. Great fun.

Good to see John Hillerman as well in a semi-recurring role, years before he would move to Hawaii.

Ah, I forgot about JH on Ellery. I have most of these on DVD. I taped them when they re-aired on a local station a few years ago. Pretty good show. By the guys who did Columbo, and they think it was a bit of a failure... But I don't agree...

Jim Hutton. I adored him.

The Simon Brimmer character was never in the books. He was a TV creation to give a ploy to EQ.

Fun to see what I think are the roots of Higgins in that character.
Sometimes I get so lucky, even I don`t believe it.
