I have always wondered why there was such an affinity with MPI over Simon and Simon. I just wish they would bring Simon and Simon back on reruns somewhere as I am not a DVD or Blu Ray fan. I am sure I would be hooked again. The supporting/recurring characters like the mother(Cecelia), Janet, Myron, Downtown Brown and Lt. McMurty were all memorable as, of course, was Rick and AJ. I think it had the best opening instrumental theme song ever. even better than MPI!
As far as I know, the last time
Simon & Simon was in syndication--on a widely-available channel, that is--was on A&E circa 1999-2003. It's not uncommon for the viewing public to forget episodes when the shows haven't aired in many years, but it all comes back once said episodes are watched again.
I'm near the end of a second season re-watch--it's been two years or more since I watched the whole season--and now even the less memorable episodes become memorable, so to speak.
Pop culture memory is a short-term thing, and it needs near-constant refreshing to stay in the public's mind.
Simon & Simon is pretty much forgotten these days, despite its previous status as a top five show.
