Just came across this now. I'm still into the MTM show reruns. Can't say the same for the Love Boat.

He was "Big Chicken" on the original FIVE-O! That's what I'll always remember him for.

Somehow I thought he died a few years ago...

I have fond memories of the Love Boat. So silly and that laugh track! He was perfectly cast in that role. He really seemed like a serious ship's captain.

Never watched an episode. I was always compelled to switch the channel. Just seemed like soap opera on a cruise ship. Not my thing.

Never cared for MTM either. Independent woman makes it on her own/women's lib. Again, not my thing.

I do remember him in the Clint Eastwood war flick KELLY'S HEROES though. :)
