Gun Control (means holding it with both hands)

#1 Post by Braddah Kimo »

Of COURSE it is politically correct for all and sundry to shout for more "gun control" especially in the wake of america's latest tragedy. That is the kneejerk reaction of the masses and it is what they think is "the least they could do" in the memory of these "senseless deaths" (not that this implies there is a sensemore death out there).
This is an unthought out stance, of course.
I am by no means, to any degree, a gun nut. Just an intelligent adult who likes to learn and read. If you may label yourself similar, read also how "gun control" not only does nothing to curb this dilemma but actually exacerbates the growing problem of this kind of violence witnessed lately that has caused such sturm und drang nationally.

Kimo,

Here's an interesting analysis of gun related deaths by state. It also includes numerous variables such a economic, social and political positions. It's a quick and interesting read.

Here is another interesting stats page:
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/cr ... ta-table-8
Notice that murders by any kind of rifle has gone down drastically over the years. Theoretically if we do nothing it would reach ZERO deaths by rifles if it continues, yet the polititions are creaming their panties about banning "assault" rifles. Approx. twice as many people are beaten to death with no weapon at all as are killed with a rifle.
Also, notice how all of these shooting ALWAYS take place where guns are prohibited? I'm getting ready to go to breakfast with my parents at an indian casino, guns are prohibited there, already this morning I have given thought to it that I will be totally defensles if some retard wants to walk in and shoot up the place. :( Who's going to stop it? The un-armed security? The sheriff deputy 45 minutes away?
I used to live in a state where I couldn't carry and I can tell you that the least of my worries was if the gang bangers had guns, I was more affraid of being beaten, stabbed, tied up and kid-napped, etc, and then I was affraid that if I carried ANYTHING to defend my self the cops would arrest ME! That was California. Even pepper spray was outlawed there (I think you needed a license to buy it or something), WHY?!? It's as if the polititions WANT us to get raped/beaten/murdered!
It saddens me every time I see a gun incident like the one in CT or the mall in Oregon. It pisses me off that a good guy wasn't there with a gun to stop the A-HOLE who did it. Actually there was a good guy with a gun in oregon, the media has just chosen to mostly cover it up. As soon as the shooter saw the good guys gun, he dove in for cover and shot him self, apparently.

Braddah Kimo, I read part of your link, will read the rest later. Looks like a good read. I'm glad to hear you are pro-gun. One HUGE detractor for me moving to Hawaii is the fact that they will not issue licenses to carry over there. Maybe some day that will change.
